Default New Forester XT 2.5 Owner -noob to subaru's

Hey all, I just picked up an '04 Forester turbo, im quite happy with it. I needed a winter vehicle as driving my Nissan in the snow was getting tiresome.

Anyway i was just wondering if there are any tips/tricks for this car. What octane gas is best for it? 93, 91? The dealer had no clue. But then again he'd never heard of letting a turbo car cool down after a drive either.

I'm used to turbocharged cars, I've got a 240SX with a SR20 and about 300 RWHP, a nice 12 second car that is my daily driver/track car.

Also are there any cheap mods? My friend is into DSMs and there are about 5 'free' mods one can do to help performance.

Check out the forester forum. There are several little mods you can do that are inexpensive. MBC, Intake, Up-pipe (removes the cat), ground wires, etc. Or just run a search using (FXT)

Congrats on the car!

I would just sit tight and wait a little while. IMHO the best upgrade will probably be an ECU reflash or some other sort of engine management. Most likely the biggest gains will come from that and the exhaust.

Also there is a lot of good info on www.subaruforester.com
