Has anyone made this trip before? If so, how long did it take and in which season did you make the trip?

Yes. I took about 3-4 hours in the summertime. I recommend peeing and filling up at Pemberton because if you feel like peeing when you tackle the mountains, it's hard on your bladder because of all those switchbacks. And depending on how hard you drive that mountain, you might consume about half a tank of gas.

I wouldn't recommend the pass during winter though, specially at night.

The trip is an excellent drive. 2.5-3 hours in winter should be more than fine.

The organizer (Warwick) lives in Whistler so he may be going that route in blue Focus has WRCA club decal on the window.

Norm will be going from Pemberton towing his 02 WRX rally car.

I suspect that Joe Battrick (Squamish) may also be going and use that route (04 WRX rally car).

I've done that drive in the summer only. Burnaby-Whistler-Pemberton-Cache Creek-Kamloops. Phenomenal!
Took a while, but I wasn't rushing it. Great twisties up to Cache Creek.
Wonderful drive. In winter I imagine it would be "interesting".
Winter tires DEFINITELY.

I say 4 hours at the most, in winter, but the way you drive, I say a couple of hours

So, Grandmas get there faster? Cool....the more at the speed limit you drive the quicker it is...I like that.

I went Merritt > Cache Creek > Lillooet > Pemberton > Whistler > Vancouver after PFR last year. Took about 3.5 - 4 hours. Was a nice drive, but my brakes were begging for mercy by the end.

I was 16 and in a ford thunderbird and did it at night in the summer with my buddy white knuckled in the passenger seat - losing brakes in all those twisties sucks!! good old heavy car with rear drums!

we did vancouver, kamloops, kelowna, kamloops, cache creek, pemberton whistler, savage beagle in about 18 hrs... there was some mtn biking, drinking (at the beagle), beach v-ball and a lot of fun in between!

good luck in the winter... watch out for the animals in the summer!

later

Driven that route about 3-4 times, only once in winter, and that was in the early going--this November. I'd say be careful, watch for slick patches, mind the weather, and don't go too fast: rocks and animals can pop up easily.

That November trip cost me $2700 in suspension damage courtesy of a football sized rock...
