Default Went to the emergency room last night.

At around 11pm last night, one of my dogs decided it would be cool to try and chew on my Asthma Medication 'Ventolin'.

Ventolin is in a little compressed metal chamber... under pressure... in a plastic holder.

We hang the coats over the chairs when we come in and the Ventolin was in my coat pocket. This bugger decides to put his snout in my pocket and pull it out, thinking it was a toy.

We're going up to bed and he's over there chewing on something so we had to take it away from him and see it's my ventolin, and he punctured the canister, and it was 3/4 full... that's a bad amount for a human, never mind a dog. I can only imagine as he punctured it, the shock of something coming out of it and inhaling at the same time... all of the medication.

So we called the animal hospital and they told us to bring him in. The only thing I can think of is that dog must have had quite a rush last night after inhaling it. It raises your heard beat and helps produces adrenalin... which will clear the airways. When the doctor measured his hart rate, 200bpm. Yes... 200.

They gave him some meds to slow the heart rate down, and kept him overnight for observation. At least he's fine now.

Now... I'm thinking one of two things... he's a) going to stop chewing on things after this little mishap... or b) going to find another one for the rush.

Just my story of the week. (3 hrs of sleep after getting back from the Animal hostpital before work... time for a nap).

he probably didnt know what hit him....if the effects are instant then id be willing to bet he'll stay away from that medication (at least) for quite awhile.

Good to hear your dogs alright.

i bet your dog found your coke stash now that i think about it....thats what made his heart race...not you "medication"

Well it's better than my dog, he's a cat poo addict. A regular litter box raider.

And my neighbor's dog will beg for cigarettes ever since he ate a whole pack.

My money is on option "b": going to find another one for the rush.

Once a junky, always a junky! Your dawg is now on an eternal quest for just one more fix.

Seriously, I'm glad the dog is OK. We had this stupid dog that ate an 2 pound box of chocolates which was under the Christmas tree - wrapping paper, box and all! Now THAT was a stupid dog.

My friend's little pug got into her bathroom and ate a bunch of her tampons. He had to have surgery to be unclogged.

Un-used tampons, ya freaks!
