Default UTEC Question

I have read the stickies and not seen the answer I need. I have a 2003 WRX and I need a UTEC. I have found a couple, but they are from a 2002 WRX. Will it still work fine on my 2003 WRX? I know one of them is a ver. 3 from a 2002 WRX. Please help, I need to buy one to run my car safely!

UTECs are backwards compatible, not forwards compatible. Therefore, a UTEC meant for a MY02 car will only work on a MY02 (actually, I think with some wiring modifications it can be made to work on a MY03, not for sure). A UTEC for a MY03 will work on either a MY03 or a MY02.

Call up TXS, I'm sure they will be happy to tell you which revision you need. Contact info is at http://www.turboxs.com

"Zola Rex" is correct..... You will get a fuel sensor code if you run a 2002 UTEC in a 2003 WRX. (That's what I run) You can get around this with a simple wire mod.

Next time I pull the carpet up I will look at the wiring for you. It's just two wires if I remember correctly. I won't be able to get around to this for a while.

You can run the car with this code.

Have a look on wrxhackers as their was a thread a long time ago on the same subject.

Okay, as long as it does not affect it in a bad way I'll just get the next one I can. Thanks.

so if i have a 03 WRX and put a 02 ECU in it, along with the UTEC for a 02 would that work fine better. Will the 02 ECU in a 03 mess up the car at all??????
