Does anybody know where the fuel filter is located.Dealer sold me a wrx filter saying it is the same and in the same location driver side shock tower.I look no filter,go to dealer they cannot find it either. The dealer does not have service manuals for STI.They called Subaru tech have not heard back.I figure somebody here would know more then the dealer.

Question

Shouldn't it be right there nestled into the wiper fluid bottle?

on the Sti it's in a different location from the older imprezas.

fuel filter is built into the fuel pump assy
and you have to remove the fuel pump
to gain access to the fuel filter.

yeah "I believe" all of the 2004 Legacys / STI / and '05 foresters are gonna have them as part of the fuel pump assembly. Eventually all of the models are gonna be there.

Thanks for the Information guys,My dealer finally got back to me and confirmed the location in the tank.Problem now is they say it is part of the pump and you do not change it. That just does not make sense, fuel filters need to be changed do they not??

The filter is a Cartridge type located just above the Fuel Pump within the Fuel Tank. The recommended replacement interval is 60,000 miles. I have not heard an explanation for moving it but I strongly doubt it has anything to do with making it difficult for the customer.

For all those who have been wondering, here is the STI fuel filter (yes, it's in the tank). The part number is 42072FE020
