Default Want to upgrade headlights on 04 STi

I am looking to upgrade to a set of atleast 5400K, but i'd like 7000K+ Bulbs, but what kind are they? D2S? Help? Any Suby vendors sell such a product? I'd also like to add HID high beams.. any thoughts?

Stockers are a D2R capsule. The "R" meaning reflector instead of "S" for projectors.

Keep in mind lumens (useable light) are reduced as temperature color is increased. For example, 4100K puts out 3500 lumens while 6000K puts out 2800 lumens. Granted they are still way brighter than halogen at something like 1500-1800 lumens.

Dan at Godspeed.com offers the real German made Philips capsules. He is very helpful.

Hope this helps.

nhluhr:

The highbeam is a 9005 halogen. If you want to convert to HID, there are several kits available but they are pricy ($500 each light) and some require a bit of work to install. Look for a plug & play set up with Hella Ballasts and Philips capsules.

Good Luck.
