cap is a pretty quick track, not as fast as MIR but better than 75/80. I ran 14.41 (should have been lower 14's i shifted into 4th before the finish) and 14.3 stock.

I ran 13.79 on 17" wheels and summer tires that are 245 width. I'm hoping that I can take off a couple tenths and put less strain on the tranny with the RE-92s. I'd also like to break 100mph, considering last time I could only get up to 98. Are these reasonable wishes?

In the past I've read observations that the WRX does the 1/4 mile faster with the stock wheels and tires.

I did just about the same with 20lb wheels and S-03's, which are heavier than most other tires I've seen. I don't know about recovering 2mph for a 100mph trap speed. Faster time yes, but faster trap speed I wouldn't expect so much.

Anyone have experience with launching a FWD car? I'm almost thinking a launch in 2nd gear would be more efficient.

if u have really short gears and a lot of power(250+) then yeah that might be a good idea.
M car has like NO power so in order to get the optimum launch I rev it up to about 4K and feather the clutch out 1/2 way and then just drop it the rest of the way and haul ass...Relatively speaking

dont do that, you will burn the F' outve your clutch.

Do what STI WANNBE SAID...sorta

when i had my old VW GTI VR6 supercharged and what not, it made gobs of power and torque. The trick was to rev it about 3-4k and slip it out nicely to keep it sticking in the power band. Then after that its easy to drive.

yeah, when u have more power you wanna keep slipping the clutch to keep the perfect balance of pwoer and grip. When you're dealing with 124hp u need to more or less dump the thing the first chance you get(w/o bogging out)

The thing with my car is there is like no first gear at all. It just shoots up to the red line with the tires spinning.

Then you're giving it too much gas. You probably can't just floor it off the line in 1st gear like AWD, you'll need a little more skill.

I'm probably down to go, I'm curious to see what I can run. I running a Cobb stg 2, hoping 13.4-13.6ish, depending on conditions. It will actually be the first time running the wrx at the track, so as long as I can get the launches right I think I will be ok.
I've got to see if I can get off of work though

I'm gonna have to back out. My clutch is starting to slip, so that won't be any fun. I'll be down after I do the AWD swap, with a lot more goodies added.

No problem, I won't shy away from a race(unless it's for alot of $$$) even if I think i'll lose. I would be interested in talking to you to find out what all you have done to the car and where you have run into problems with the buildup. I plan on being in the high11's-low 12's in the long term and would like to learn from someone who has done it.
