SWEET! Nice pic Rex-n-effect....I forgot to bring my camera like a dumbass. That was my second run...I love AWD

I am actually going up there a bit earlier than you, I have a couple friends meeting me at BJ's in Fairlakes at 10 gonna roll out soon after then. I'm really not trying to wait to run like I did last week.

What time do you plan on getting to the track, john? I'd love to meet up with you guys, but the earliest I could make it down there would be 10:30. Have you been there before 11:30 before? I thought that they don't even start letting people in until 11:30.

I'm down to meet up anytime somewhere along 95/495 north before Maryland. I haven't been to capitol in a long time so if I could follow someone up that would be cool

It's not going to rain....The latest report says nothing after mid-day Saturday...going to be in the mid-50's and partly sunny.

See you all there

Just wanted to post this important piece of information for people:

Some of us met up at the 95/495 park and ride and convoyed to the Mach V meet and a few people had difficulties locating the place for the following reason.

Even though it is a Park and Ride, the signs out on the beltway have it labeled as Carpool Parking (even though the terms are interchangeable some ppl thought it wasnt the meet spot when it was).

Also, there is a weigh station in this carpool parking area, so if the lights are flashing on those signs as you approach the interchange, be aware of trucks rolling into the same area you are rolling into.

Hope this bit of information helps people in getting to the meeting spot. unfortunately i have to work so I cannot attend. Have fun everybody.

I wont be able to make it car, still in the shop. Been in there for a month now getting a whole new paint job and body kit. Having it painted Velocity Red from the new 04 Mazda RX8 and having a Liberal front lip and Chargespeed sides installed.
They did tell me I need a helmet for my next run last time I was there. They rent them at the track free of charge!

sure did! got in 2 runs in ~2.5 hours and called it a day At least the weather was pretty much perfect for standing around waiting. And waiting. and waiting.

Alas, my drag skills are rusty, my car should be fast, but it's not

points at laughs at Bleuquila. j/k

Gonz, she has the same syndrome as you. The car is fast, but the driver needs to learn how to make it go fast. You guys are much much better at negotiating cones and tight turns

My first run really sucked. I slipped the clutch too fast, spun the front tires and when they caught it just bogged big time. I think I scored a 2.1 or something for the 60' time. 14.5 at about 94mph or something. Pretty slow for me. But then......

....John Sever, Bleu and I installed the Sti scoop, and as I promised John, it took 1/2 second off My second run was much better: 1.87 on the 60' and 14.02 at 95.3mph or something close to that.

Gonz: here is where it gets interesting. I had some old slips form 75/80 in my car so I took them out for comparison.

**75/80 track times (supposedly the slower of the 2 tracks):
1/4 mile: 14.12
1/4 mph: 95.93
60': 1.92

**I put my Capital slips away so this is from memory:
1/4 mile: 14.02
1/4 mph: 95.3x
60': 1.87

So we see some interesting results. I got a faster time but slower trap speed at Capital. How can this be possible if 75/80 is the considered slow one and runs up hill?

-Ron

don't laught at me, I try hard

But I did chirp the tires on my second launch!! I've never done that before Fun, but kinda shot my 60' to hell, so that's what I blame, not my granny-shifting or whateverthehellelse is the problem.

Fun times. I got there before it opened and was the first heat to run. We got to 3 runs in an hour before everyone else even got through tech! We had to wait over an hour for our 4th run, but it was worth it. Before I went, I added some octane boost to ensure no knock and dialed the boost up to about 16psi. On my run with the fastest speed, my reaction time was a perfect (lucky) .506. 1.91 60', 1/8 mile: 8.77@79.6, 1/4 mile: 13.67 @ 100.53.
My final run of the day I was really tearing it up until I shifted from 3-4 at only 6700 RPMs as an experiment. TAKE IT TO REDLINE! The result was my fastest time, but I slowed down the trap speed. 1.82 60', 1/8 mile: 8.68@80.8!, 1/4 mile: 13.59@99.9. According to my 1/8 mile speed compared to the previous run, I should have run 101mph! That was the most fun I've had there. It was probably my last time for the year, but it was great meeting a couple new nabisco rats. Who was the guy with the VF22 and front mount that ran a 12.6? I forgot your name if I ever got it. Some nice drivin' on that run!

You see my results, Ron. I pulled that feat on the same day at the same track and I think it was my shifting that caused it.

I've got some pictures that I will post when I get back to my apt. today or tomorrow.

Hmmm, good point about the shifting. I shifted into fourth at around 6700rpm as well. Probably should've it held out till redline. It's hard to know when to actually shift. Looking at the dyno graph from TXS for my stage 1, peak HP is at 6500 or 6700 ( I forget now) so you would think that hanging around until redline wouldn't be profitable.... but then again, shifting into 4th drops you down to just about the bottom of the power range so maybe that's a problem too.

-Ron (I didn't meet too many new people unfortunately, just Rex, Fletis, and one other guy that hasn't registered in NASIOC yet)

I can think of a couple of things 1) temp and humidity 2) 60 foot time 3 ) engine temp 4) boost level.

Anyway, not bad times. Wait until you get that down pipe. then you'll be running those mid thirteens like Rex N Effect.

Hey all,

I had a fun time at Capitol(Ron/Elisa you guys missed the real fun ) Right after you all left that 280Z with the big block ran a 10.6 ish and his fender fell off and made him wreck, big smokey wreck...needless to say the track was shut down for OVER an hour...firetruck/ambulance came, I hope he came out OK it was very hard to tell.

I had a good time nonetheless and I met a couple new people(Brandon and a couple STI guys).

Hmm, makes me wonder why i'm selling the WRX for an STi when the best time I saw out of one of those was a 13.8(got to be a driver thing I guess).
Well all in all I drove pretty crappy...my times were "alright" I was expecting abit more outta the car but it wasn't going to happen based on this timeslip.

Rt 1.232
60' 1.799
330 5.411
1/8 8.463
MHP 81.26
1000 11.062
1/4 13.306
MPH 101.88

On this run I was against a Firebird Formula who ran a 13.269@ 104.96. He congradulated me on a good run after the fact, nice guy. I just couldn't match his top end with the stock turbo.

That was my best 60' time ever so I was happy about that...was also the last run my WRX will ever see...The UTEC is now sold and out of the car(car is ass slow now). The FMIC and everything else is coming off this coming weekend I love the car but it's time to step up to STI.

Hope you liike that extra 1/2 second Ron...80 bux!!!! Best mod eVaaaR. hahah.

Elisa how do the "raccoon" eyes look? I hope they make you happy! quila B

John,
I was at Capitol Sunday w/ my black STi. I made 3 passes, 13.7, 13.3 and 13.4. Not too bad for my 3-5 launches/passes ever. BTW, the second pass could've been a high12-low 13 second pass. I decided to try to leave it in 4th thru the traps, due to my low trap speeds on my previous runs...a best of 99.84mph. This run I came out like a raped ape, left it in 4th and hit the rev limiter about 150' from the end. The car fell on it's face and I shifted into 5th Here's the slip. Tell me what you think...
2nd pass 3rd pass
R/T .832 2.630
60' 1.692 1.768
330' 5.397 5.541
1/8 8.456 8.522
MPH 80.59 80.72
1000' 11.059 11.167
1/4 13.317 13.410
MPH 98.74 101.30
BTW, I'll be going to Cecil or Capitol this weekend in pursuit of my 12 second pass.
Sorry I didn't get to meet you.
