Default F U SUBARU... coolant leaks continues!

had my water pump / timing belt replaced 1500 miles ago with OEM parts and i'm leaking in that general area (tstat housing area leaking on manifold heat shield, smells GREAT)

what is the problem!?, we had determined it was escaping the weep hole in the water pump last time, can't be the case now

what is going on!

car is a 02 wrx w/ 70k

CC Imports in Holland, MI... it appeared the weephole was seeping coolant causing the problem, i don't feel the water pump has failed again this soon, however I am thinking possibly one of the lines that attaches to the housing is... guess we'll see monday

Did you put an STi radiator cap or other aftermarket hi-pressure cap on your car?

Have them pressure test your cooling system.

I had a leak in the same area - turned out to be where the lower radiator hose went onto the tstat housing - the housing is a cast part and had a ton of flashing along the knit line which would cut into the radiator hose and cause a small leak which would drip as I drove the car and vaporize on the exhaust manifold - it wasn't until it got bad enough to actually leave a drop or two of coolant that I found it (all of the coolant residue was on the underside of the hose - impossible to see until I put a mirror under there to check). They replaced the lower radiator hose and ground the thermostat housing smooth (under warranty). No leaks since.

that's my next move, it doesn't leak a significant amount but the harder you drive the car the more it worsens

very embarassing to see nasty smelling coolant vaporizing
