Default oil filter leak

I just changed my oil today and think I must have overtightened the oil filter. instead of stopping at like 3/4 turn after it got tight, i just tightened it as much as i could by hand. I'm now getting a couple drops of oil coming off the filter every hour or so.

Is there anything I can do to correct this other than taking the filter completely off? Is the gasket shot now because i overtighted it?

Did the old gasket come off with the old filter?
If the old gasket is still there, then it will leak.
It is kind of unusual that one will leak if overtightened, unless it is tightened to the point of deforming the filter....Is the filter can bent or twisted?

Take it apart and figure it out...there should be NO leaks.

Scotty's right, make sure you didn't accidentally double-gasket the filter. Unless you're Ahnold, it's not likely you overtightened it by hand to the point where it would leak.
