Default Half shafts sliding out from rear C-clip?

I replaced my rear Diff in a '02 WRX. The new diff has a sticker on it that says TG & it matches the gear ratios in my replacement Trans. (thats about all the info on the rear diff that i have). I Installed the rear diff smoothly. I test drove the car,Then upon inspection I saw that the stock WRX rear half shafts had some play. They could slide in & out of the diff about a 1/4 inch. When I first installed the shafts into the rear diff they went all the way in & snapped into the C-clips. I'm stuck & need some advise / suggestions for trouble shooting this. Thanks, Vince...
