Hello to everyone, I have a few questions that Im not sure anyone has the answer too, lol.

My girlfriend and I attended the Chicago auto show this morning and she fell in love with the new Outback wagon. She currently owns a 325 IX and wants to keep the performance, show she will be looking into the turbo. She really wants the two tone paint scheme, and no one at the show could answer if the turbo would come in the two tone scheme. Just seeing if anyone else knew anything. The only turbo wagon they had was a uniform silver color. Maybe Ill just have to go check it out at SIA, currently Im finishing my last year of school at Purdue and the Subaru assembly line is just a 15 minute drive away, lol. Thanks

Yes, I noticed that site. I might be wrong, but I dont see any info on if the Turbo can be gotten with the two tone trim. I looked for a long while at the site and didnt see anything......

They haven't announced the colors on the site yet, but the monotone scheme is usually only offered in certain colors like silver or blue. Outbacks have always come in two-tone schemes, but we just don't know yet. Wait a just a little longer...

Somewhere around March 2 or 9 is when most details will be out for price, color, options, etc. Just a little while longer.

I have nothing official just years of experience selling Subaru's.My bet is that the Turbo will only be mono(single tone)paint.Lately Subaru has really seemed to decide that this is sportier. We all may not agree but time will tell for sure.......Brian

ps-the black mono paint looks great on the Outback XT!

Default What to expect?

I have a 2000 Outback 2.5, 5-sp. I certainly donít love it, but there isnít much else out there. Iím hoping the 2005 model will be an improvement in the areas that bother me in the current model.

What I hope they fix:

1. WIND NOISE: This car is VERY noisy. Does anyone know if the 2005 will still be of frameless window design? The wind noise from the window seals right at ear level is really loud and annoying. In general, this car is VERY noisy and, therefore, tiring on long trips.

2. SLOPPY SHIFTER: The feel of the manual shifter is pretty dead-fish in my opinion. Does anyone know if the 2005 model has any significant improvements over the current model? For that matter, maybe the gearbox in my 2000 MY was modified and the current version is better.

3. LOUSY CLUTCH: The clutch pedal is pretty spongy feeling in my opinion. Does anyone know if the 2005 model will be improved in this area? I had my clutch replaced twice under warranty. The latest is a new design (I am told), but it still feels pretty lame.

4. HEADLIGHTS: This car really needs a Xenon option. The stock lights are pretty dull. Does anyone know if that will be available?

5. MANUAL GEARBOX WITH THE H6: I guess I know the answer to this. Why-oh-why canít anyone make the best engines available with the best gearboxes? I really do not like turbos. The new design really looks nice, but that hood scoop just looks completely out of place to my eyes. It completely ruins the clean lines. So close, yet so far.

6. TURNING RADIUS: 36.7 ft is huge. I really hope they tighten it up on the 2005. Does anyone know?

Comparing to a lot of cars, the Outback's turning radius is actually pretty decent IMO.

Noisy? Hmm I guess you haven't driven a lot of cars cause the 3rd gen legacy (2nd gen Outbacks) are pretty darn quiet. I've owned a ton of subies (old ones too) and the door/window seals never make noise in mine (even on my '88 XT6 with over 100K years and that was when it was 12 years old).

As for the H6 w/MT, look for it next year, it is coming this spring to Australia which means we may see it next spring. 6MT from the STi is in it. I believe it's called the SpecB or something like that.

Headlights are lousy? Hmm try driving my '00 Isuzu Trooper and you'll see some bad headlights. Very easy and inexpensive remedy is to pickup some Hella driving lights, for under $300 you can have a nice setup.

Default eta and pricing of 2005 LL Bean Outback

I received the Outback and Legacy 2005 brochures from Subaru, and I'm particularly interested in the LL Bean Outback because of the six-cylinder engine in that model. Are there any dealers out there who can tell us when we should start seeing the new Outbacks in the showroom and estimated pricing?

There are some great deals on the present Outbacks, but I think the smoother lines and minimal cladding on the new models look so much better.

Mike, the Outbacks are quiet for a Subaru, but they're noticeably worse than pretty much any other car in the segment.

there's currently 6 cyl and L.L. Bean outbacks in the '00-'04 body style... and an almost mono tone version
