hey, STIRS and i we routed our V1's throught the dome light! its easier to see more of the road. the V1 is placed close to the top of the windshield so the wire is almost non existant!!! easily connected too!!

Thanks, which wire(s) did you tap in to and how do you like the V1, I've been getting alot of false laser alarms? I think its the onstar in other cars setting it off?
Thats actually where I initally wanted to tap the power from but wasnt sure I'd blow a fuse with the increase power(be it minute)draw! |

You don't need to vampire anything if you use the mirror/compass plug. I did mine a long time ago and it works like a champ.
False alarm in laser are usually from red LED taillights like those on the new Trailblazers...my '95 vintage Passoprt falses on those if I'm behind a Trailblazer at a light. |

you can always use the cigarette lighter wire behind the dash (not like subaru gave us the lighter anyway) and run the wire up behind the molding and then underneath the roof molding to the radar. Its easier to hide the fuse behind the dash (just above the fuse terminal block is a nice wide open space). Only a little piece of the wire with the phone jack adapter is seen through the window, but mines blocked from view via the e-z pass.

The only problem tapping into the map light id its a constant power so I'll have to manually shut the radar off everytime I turn the car off,I'd rather not trust myself in doing so. I'd rather it be an ignition powered/switched supply. My friend wired it from the cig lighter but it seems like such a far way to go and I was trying to avoid removing the a pillar cover..etc..
Thanks for the input, and I wasnt aware the LED taillights would send a false alarm to my $400 V1?? Its pretty annoying ,especially when your over the speed limit! |

If you want you can tap into the black wire in the harness with the ground from the V1, since its the ground wire for the optional mirror.
