Cool help a newbie and give me a hand, please

Hello. i'm new to the subaru secen, so please bear with me.
I recently purchased a 1990 gl wagon awd/5sp.
I bought this car, wanting to an ej20t swap. However, after some research, for my year/model, this seems not possible.
Here is my question,
Can any other turbo motor fit in
1990 SUBARU LOYALE 4WD?
my engine type is
Engine Type: 1.8L H4 MFI/FI.
Thanks for any info provided.

p.s. i did use the "search" button, trying to figure things out, but i couldn't find any info relating to this model.

It can and has been done, actually. No it wouldn't be easy, and no it wouldn't be cost-effective. But it can be done. I believe someone in this very forum has done it, might wanna search again. You would have to swap both the engine and transmission in this case, because a EJ-engine won't bolt up to your tranny...

Your current engine is an EA82. You could swap in an EA82T, would be much easier than a EJ20 swap. But keep in mind, EA82T's have a reputation as bad as 96 Outbacks about blowing their headgaskets. Might wanna be careful before you put a Joe P. MBC on there running 13 lbs!

Just take your time and find out as much as you can. If you do things right, you could have a WRX-whoopin 80's wagon!

hmn. I just bought sport compact, and it has article on how to swap ej20t into other subaru models. My year/model wasn't listed, but i thought it was little odd.(95 and new legacy model) And yes, if i do decide to do the swap, i would replace the motor and the tranny.
Thank you very much for the info. I'd better research some more. who knows, i may end up with boosting wagon soon. (hopefully. ) oh yeah this would be my spring/summer project. it's tooo freaking cold here in connecticut to be working on cars.

You can find more info on EJ swaps by checking out some Australian web sites. There is a guy up in the Seattle area (Corky) who put an EJ20T (not sure what year) in an 87 RX 3dr which is the same bodystyle as your Loyale.
