Cool pics. Those hot spots look like they're aimed really low, but maybe I'm just getting fooled by perspective or something.

Hank-
Are the HIDs direct plug-n-play? I have UK300s and am wanting to upgrade to HID, but I am absolutelynogood at electrical stuff and don't want to do any splicing if possible. They look great, btw! (You also have to disable DRL, right?)

TIA,
Brian

Sorry for the delayed response

Zola Rex and Future Rex Owner - they do look low in the pic. It was taken standing up so the perspective like you guys said is sort of playing tricks with your eyes...and IIRC, the wall was a bit higher up than where the car is in the pic. I'm not saying that my aiming is 100% accurate, but they were aimed down a teeny bit after being flashed by people since they were aimed too high. So I guess in way they are about as high as I can aim them without blinding people

bliu - my kit was direct plug and play along with some proper grounding. Nothing was spliced or modded...and I did disable the DRL. The only thing though is that the Prodrive Hella Projector units were not made for HID bulbs. I mean mine has worked flawlessly for a year now, but I need to go back and redo the bulb opening in the projector along with the retaining clips that holds the bulb in. I just found out about a month ago but haave been too lazy and scared that I may mess something up Here's the site with complete instructions on how to get the projector HID ready. Keep in mind I thought they were fine, but this is more of a safety measure:

Here are some pics I took a while back at dusk:

Yeah - it wasn't the easiest page to comprehend, but hopefully you got the gist of it and know now that to be 100% safe and ready, there needs to be some modding. I'll be doing it hopefully sooner than later

Hank, is your light e-coded? I thought all e-code lights should have beam patterns similar to __/ ___/ and yours looks more like \/ \/. Or may be that's just the way your light is.

I'm pretty sure they're e-coded. The projectors are Hella 90mm H7 units and are a German part. Fortunately I know of at least one vendor that stocks them in the U.S. Hopefully I won't be needing a new one anytime soon as they're $80 a piece. Just got me some Stongards for them

I believe the __/ __/ is what most members use to describe the pattern since that's closer to saying that they look like \/ Of course I could be wrong too...

what I am trying to say is that it seems your light is out of alignment. it should have a horizontal line in the bottom then the incline (like __/ ). On the picture it seems your beam is like a reversed triangle.

here is a good link for aiming the e-coded lamps.

maybe the bulb/lense is mounted wrong. becuase it would be the __/ if it was rotated a little bit. oh, also and http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/hella/90mm.htm has the lights for $54 bucks a piece

Yeah - I've visited that site numerous times. The reflector shield on the Hella units are a bit different I believe. If you take a look at the the shield below, you can see it's more of a \/ shape than a __/ shape:

Here's more info if you want to read up:

I'll have to see if it can be rotated maybe a 1/4 turn. There are four mounting points that are on each corner of a square and right now the HElla logo on the front is right side up. Rotatting it would make it looks all slanted...but who knows

Thanks for the link, but those Hella units are H9 bulb applications - the Prodrives have H7s. I haven't really researched to see if they would fit or not though...

I also have the UK300. I have also had Morette's in the past. They both had the "_/" beam pattern, not the "\/" pattern. I think your lights need to be rotated a bit.

Note that the left side of the shield in the picture is flat while the right side is angled. The left side of the shield in the picture makes the "_" part of the beam while the right wide makes the "/" part.
