Question Changing to synthetic oil

I just recently bought an 02 impreza wrx with 22k miles...... i want to start using mobile 1 in the oil changes.....can you still do that or is it to late????

You can switch back and forth if you want. There are no i'll effects from switching. Synthetic is the way to go though.

Thanks, Unabomber, for putting together a very helpful link.

Must beg to differ with your first statement though. There *is* a best oil--we just haven't developed a definitive test that will tell us which one it is. Until that day, my vote goes to Redline.

Also, even with coolant-assisted turbos, synthetic oil is the preferred choice over conventional dino--today's turbo bearings can still reach red-hot temps and need all the lubricating protection they can get!
