Beater repair:Tricky ignition switch. Help me put it in it's place

So the ignition switch is a little tricky, meaning that if you put the key in "balls deep", then you have to ever so slightly nudge it out of the hole to get it to turn. Otherwise, all the way in, it won't budge, and you're sitting there like

My reason behind wanting to remedy this is that I'm afraid to take it anywhere for work because I'm sure they'll end up calling me saying they can't get it started.

Is this an unheard of problem? Just thought: maybe a rubber stopper ring around the ignition switch?

that happened on my old Maxima, too. I never fixed it...just had to sit and fiddle w/ the key sometimes.

buy one of those freaking push button starters and put it somewhere out of the way, where nobody but you would look for it (like under the steering column, maybe).

Or find a new ignition switch and get DIY on it.
