messed up speedometer

i opened the guage cluster and peeled back the actual faces of hte gauges very very carefully and something went wrong. the speedometer gets stuck around 30 and shoots up or down. the face may be getting stuck on the needle. any suggestions or should i take it to the dealer? thanx

This is why we usually advise people who ask not to mess with the gauge faces. Chances are you may end up having to buy a new cluster.
The dealer will fix it, but they will charge you regardless of your warranty situation since you caused the problem.

did you actually move the needle at all?

you can try this.

take it back apart, gently push the needle in, then pull it back out, carefully untill you feel it click or hit a detent.

you talking less then a mm of travel so dont force it and be gentle.

Its worth a shot since its already borked.

It use to be a comon probably on the RS when installing indiglo guages, they would hit the needle and push it in to far...or take them off and put them back on and push them in to far.

Ive fixed a few this way, not sure if the 04 uses the same type of set up for the needles though.

thanx a bunch, i rotated the needle some but it happened when i peeled the actual face back a lil. so i dunno. i'll try workin it in and out very very gently.
