Question authorities harassing?

How are the local law enforcement officers in the bay area? i may be moving to san francisco soon, and i got a aftermarket intake and exhaust. and i know nothing about CARB or smog testing or whatever else you guys have to go through in california. (i live in hawaii)should i return my RS to bone stock? ill leave the teins in of course hehe. also, anyone know of any job openings in the bay? im working at the subaru dealer here in maui as a lowly lot boy.

Yeah, that's about right.

Re cops, unfortunately they do like to go after anything that looks like a riceboy ride because the owners are usually doing something stupid. There are well documented speed traps in the Bay Area -- 880 "Nimitz" fwy, 101 on the peninsula, 101 Gilroy, 80 Vacaville, etc. Doubt they'd give you hassle about your exhaust unless it is obnoxiously loud, in which case you shouldn't be running it anyway.

Re jobs, everybody and their mother is looking to hire around here. Email me your qualifications, maybe I can find you something at my company or nearby.

Personally, I'd rather move from here to Hawaii!

cheers,
Joe

well as far as a loud exhaust is concerned i have a blitz NurSpecR 80mm catback (with silencer) obviously louder than factory, but still somewhat stealthy. its a japanese product, so im sure its not smog legal or CARB certified. any problems with that? hat would suck alot if i have to have my factory exhaust shipped up to cali after i move. and as far as job qualifications go...uh i been doing auto-detailing pretty much half my life, and was a supervisor at my most recent job *yes no more shampooing carpets* and of course a backyard greasemonkey. incase anyone was wondering why im moving, my girlfriend is pregnant and she was born and raised in the bay-area. yah i know...i live in hawaii, its a long story....WAAAY off topic there. one more thing before i go, i have no friends there, if i move up, anyone care to be a kind of tourguide and show me ins n outs? ill keep everyone posted on this board. OH yah one more thing, ill prolly be up in san francisco for the last week of july, nothing definite yet.

what kine job u lookin fo' braddah? i stay in san fran but i was born and raised east oahu. (my feeble attempt at pidgin) anyways right on~! another local boy moving on up to the big city life. what part of maui are you from? a guy i know who manages a nightclub/ lounge is from up country... anyways i have the obligatory 5% tint all windows on my car and a munich front plate which can cause a anal retentive cop ticket you while youre parked in the train station while youre out earning an honest living and staying away from crime. other than that if your car is newer than 4 years old you dont have to worry about smog or emissions testing. when i moved up in 98 i brought up my 95 4runner and didnt have to worry about a smog test. although if you bring in a car from out of state they used to smack you with a $300 "smog impact fee"... but from what i hear, like i mentioned earlier, if your car is newer than 4 years than you dont have to worry about it. let me know when you move up and ill hook u up island style.

there's a list of the relevant stuff (CARB wize) here: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/msprog.htm
Exhaust shouldn't be a problem, the intake is probably more of a minor inconvenience come smog check time.

As to 'law enforcement', I drive like nuts in The City (San Fran) but always cool it
in the 'burbs especially the rich ones...

just avoid Milpitas and Fre(ak)mont area during weekend nights. Cops love to pull over any modded imports due to the illegal racing gathering.
