Default Cyl 4 misfire only with borla headers

I posted awhile back about getting a cyl 4 misfire under WOT in the 3rd gear with no driveability.

I can now say its defintly related to the headers, because I have had them off the car for about a month (due to crack) I just got them fixed and I put them back on, and bam back comes the flashing cel in 3rd gear.

It never came on in the past month without the headers.

I have to rack my brain now and figure out why/how the headers would do this..

nothing jumps out at me. That dam cel is annoying as hell!

boooo

Good luck figuring out what it is, it'll be interesting to see the cause. I've been running Borlas for 6 months or so with no issues (well except the cat effiency cel).

That is weird...why would something external and part of what the cylinder produces cause the cel...I'm still with no cel and I've had them on for about 6mths and approx 12k...maybe more....weird..

edit: What about your intake? Modified? I could see a result of the misfire because of the intake and the freer flowing exhaust...maybe...just throwing out an idea. I still don't see why something external directly relates to anything internal....especially when it's running at the end of the chain?

Abnormal scavenging of the exhaust is about it. Does the plug in that cylinder look normal compared to the others? Is there more heat in that area with the Borlas?

Is it RPM-dependant at all? Does it get worse in gears higher than 3rd?

from what ive checked so far.

its 100% Load/Open loop, 6k rpms usually in the 3rd gear, I havent checked the freeze frame data on the latest CEL yet, ill post them results when I do.

im lazy...

I havent pulled the plug at all.

At first I thought it was carboned up valves...but headers or no headers shouldnt make a difference.

I do have a jc sports intake

CheezeWeezle you hit the nail on the head.

the other thing that has me is there is NO driveability, just a flashing CEL. At 6k rpm WOT if the car misfires, you would certianly expect to feel it.

I dunno. Eventually ill look into it deeper, but by the time that comes around ill probably have done my WRX swap.

I also have a 112,000 miles, so im not worrying about it too much cause the car runs great.
