News World Rally Radio trying to make a comeback

It seems that all the petition-signing may have done some good. Looks like they are considering returning as a subscription-based service, or possibly ad-supported.

I rec'd this email this morning, so it looks like the broadcast crew have been give the ok to do some market research, to see if they can build a self-supported show:

Dear Rally Fan

Hello from the World Rally Radio team. We're writing to you because you have written to the studio in the past.

Could you help us by filling in a survey form at:

http://www.lightningsurvey.co.uk/vie...d=0b7d&c=03npJ

It will help us decide the best way to take the station forward.

Best wishes from us all.

GREG, BECS, CHRIS & DAN
The World Rally Radio Team

Anyone who misses Rally Radio should go fill out the survey and email the link to a few friends:

Got it too and filled it out. I put $20-$30 for a year with other features included such as more videos.

Yeah, I got that e-mail this morning too.

I'd be interested in paying, but my main concern is that its on mainly while I'm asleep.

Very happy to be invited to comment.

I put that I would pay around $20-$25 as that would be about the same as a magazine subscription. I don't think I'll sign up at the $8 per rally amount. That come out to $128 per year.

Also asked them to rebroadcast the day's show after the day's wrap up. That way I don't have to get up at 2am, listen for an hour, then get a couple hours sleep before checking in again.

I also suggested they do a season-long subscription price of no larger than $30, and/or support with ad revenue. I also said I would like to see more interviews/features on the engineering and setups of the cars.

The rebroadcast is a great idea, makes perfect sense. Although, I have to admit that I get a kick out of napping early evenings, then getting up when the broadcast starts around 11PM PST, and staying up all night to listen to it.

I just got the survey. It goes to all those who submitted emails to them while online.

I'll pay $8 a rally.

Why?

Because at least I know I'm getting it. I have yet to see Sweden on TV. The constant jerking around and spottyness of the TV coverage makes me depend on radio.

It has to be real time. I need to stay up early in th morning to hear it. No rebroadcast.

What suprises me is that Puma, Inmarsat, Subaru, Mitsu, Pirelli, Alpinestars, etc..... don't offer sponsorship. I wouldnt mind listening to a few commercials to get coverage.

agreed, a few car commercials never killed me. i still watch the subaru comemrcials during rallys.

8 bucks a rally is too high, and i need ot hear it in real time because live dashboard is always running as well

$8 a rally? No problem. I pay more than that for a movie, and those only last a couple of hours not a couple of days.

A rebroadcast would be cool so I could catch some of the interviews that happen when I pass out -- but I'd still follow rallies the way I do now: up late, pass out for a couple of hours, then awake again early for the last stages of the day and the driver interviews. Sleep deprivation is all part of the fun!

Bump 'cause what the heck is going on?

I didnt see Sweden's coverage because of whack programming schedules AND they are doing away w/radio.

Anyone heard anything new?

No WRR programming for Mexico

They may be able to do select European rallies for free *IF* they could find a sponsor to foot the bill (they would start with pay plans next year, if they do that).

Looks like we have to rely on the Event Dashboard for live coverage of the event.
