Post This month's BBC's Top Gear Magazine....

....has an excellent article about a day in the life in the Safari Rally, mainly focused on Ford. I guess they were picked due to the fact they they would have the most trouble, as far as reliability is concerned.

They have old timers there recalling the old Safari Rally too. The Sarafi rally of old was actually 5,000 miles long(today, it's 1,672 miles long) and went through three countries. It started in the rainy season(around Easter) so teh cars' biggest worry was the mud, more so than the animals and traffic. However, one person recalled a giraffe sitting on a car!

The article has some really nice detailed accounts of McRae's car limping into service with the front left shock protruding through the hood! The got nearly everything fixed in under 45 minutes! It would have taked our cars a month to get fixed in the real world!

There are other artcicles : one regarding the P1 vs Evo VI. Good Grief! They're nearly identicle as far as number are concerned, P1 just edging out the Evo by 1/10 of a second in 0-60 and 1/4 mile(5mph faster for the P1 though).
