Default The new SMP Chimney Heat shield is finally here

Heat Shields are now in stock! I've got our first batch of 50 new shiny chimney heat shields. Going to be spending the week boxing and packaging them. Somebody help me empty the warehouse!

Here are the photos of the product.

This fits the 02/03 WRX only. We are seeking an 04 year car for fitment (locals only). Contact me if you want to use your car for fitment (special incentives will apply). Will NOT fit most aftermarket TMIC due to space issues. We are designing our own IC to match this shield. Also, seeking an STI in the San Diego area for designs.

Introductory Price $155 shipped. Price is good until stock lasts.
We accepts Paypal: Jeremywo@hotmail.com

CA residents add 7.75% tax.

16 ga laser cut precision Stainless steel. Single bolt mounts to stock IC bracket. Easy installation takes less than 5 minutes to install (if you've already removed your stock heatshield). Does not rattle or touch any stock components.

Dealer inquiries are welcome.

If you don't see the pic - Scroll down. Thanks Mexican Pizza for hosting these pics.

Are the shields you are offering the "Full finished product...use stainless rivets to hold chimney walls together...use a black foam/rubber seal to press against scoop grate." ?

It kinda sounds like these were the prototypes or something along those lines.

You might have not the pics shared in a public album since you're using Imagestation Jeremy. Anyway, I'm real interested in this since I'll be rocking a TXS Stealthback and the stock will not fit over the big 4" bellmouth.

Yes, its a public album. I'll create another one and post the link to it.

Re: Fitment. this will fit any aftermarket major vendor DP configuration. There are no issues fitting over the TXS 4" bellmouth.

Jeremy

In the meantime, pics also are on my website.

Fryrice: I think that is the idea, because aftermarket DP's don't have the bracket that the stock heat shield used. According to his site, he has a GP moto turboback so I would imagine it would clear the largest ones (ie 4" bellmouth)

edit: I guess he beat me to it

Very interested. I'd like to see some larger/closer pictures of install. Looks like a nice product. I take it that this is designed to grab the airflow from the left side of the scoop and shunt it down more directly over the turbo? Any issues with using Sti ('02-03) scoop?

I still have stock DP and heatshields. Your post says 5 min install if stock heatshield already removed. What is entailed if you still have stock heatshield? [I guess what I am wondering is whether it is possible to just buy/use the "chimney" portion of this part, and not remove the stock DP heatshield].

Thanks.

RacerX - You've got the general idea. An added benefit is that most of our cars are street cars. This chimney acts both as a A/C for the turbo as well as a heat vent. In stop and go traffic (especially on the I-5 - here in SoCAL), heat can vent right out of the scoop - thanks to the law of physics that heat rises. If you've got enough speed, the reverse happens and cool air then gets forced down to the turbo/dp area. Heat is the number one enemy in our cars - so its a big reason we've been focused on cool (no pun intended) products - like our rads and this heat shield.

You need to remove the stock heat shield for this product to work - it was designed mostly for people changing their DP - in which most cases, you lose the stock shield - which we thought was ugly in the first place.

Hope this answers your question.

Jeremy

It should work - but since I don't have experience with the APS TMIC - I am guessing. Do you know how much thicker/deeper it is? The base shield is designed to protect the IC also from the bottom from heat - so depending on the Depth of your TMIC. You are welcome to try it - but again, I can't guarantee it since the design was for the stock IC in mind. We are working on our own TMIC to match our radiator and our chimney. Its a ways away, but we'll eventually get to it - we hope!

Thanks for the info Jeremy. Given that I don't have any plans to remove my DP in the near future, I guess this product is not quite what I would be looking for. I don't think I want to hassle with removing the OEM heatshield just to install this--though I like the chimney idea. If you ever decide to make one w/out the heatshield section, let me know and I'll be first in line to buy one.

Thanks again.
