Where can I get cheap 2004 ECU ?

I'm looking for an 04 WRX ECU (5MT) so I can send it off for the COBB reflash (Would rather have the stock as a spare just in case.)

any ideas from anyone as to where I can pick one up for a reasonable price ?

www.carpart.com or you can get the Accessport and not have to remove your ECU. Flash it yourself.
I have heard of people snagging ECUs for $200 or so.
So figure 200 for the ECU+395 for the flash=595 with no shipping figured in.
Buy the Accessport before April 1st, $555. Wait until after April 1st, it's 595!
You make the call! You'll wait longer for the Accessport though. Might be May before you get it...

Access port is definetly a thought - still worried about that whole ECU stuffed ...... no spare thing, would rather have that stock ecu I can throw back in there if need be ...

What I meant was that if I end up over boosting or some kind of similar problem it would be nice to be able to just switch the Stock ECU back in. i drive the car every day and can't get to work without it , so it would be nice to have a fallback in-case (however unlikely) something nasty happens.

Going to wait and see how the Access works out for a few other people before I go that way ....... Don't fancy losing my car because the computer interface didnt work well .....

Access does sound sweeeeeeeeet though ...... hmmm..... decision made methinks !!!!!!

I also have a blue 04 wagon and planning to use valet mode to teach my fiancee to drive the stick. Well, she knows how to drive stick but not the "wrx stick"

Although I'm pretty conservative myself and don't really consider modifying my car that much, I'm still getting an accessport. It seems like the best choice for guys like me, and possibly you.
