Thumbs up Top Gear TV Show

Well since where I am at now I don't get Motorweek or the WRC I am forced to watch this British TV car show called Top Gear. The only bad part is I have to be at work in order to see it. I work with satellites so I can watch their shows every now and again. Well tonight, or I mean last nights show was all about performance cars and tuning your cars. They dragged out a new model Ford Focus (UK model) that had a turbo and 220hp, a Alfa with the same amount of power (which was a great looking car), and a Gaballa tuned (probably wrong spelling) Porsche GT2 car. It had 600hp and was completely converted for racing. This this was very very fast! They took it around some airport getting all of the cars sideways and beating the hell out of them. The next car may scare a few people but it was something to see. It was a older model Ford Fiesta that had been converted to RWD and then wedged a V8 under its hood. The car sounded nothing like what you would have expected from the looks of the car. The last episode I had seen of this show was OK as far as car shows go. Then again Motorweek rarely does anything tuning related or performance oriented. This episode was well worth spending the lunch break watching. I just hope this thing gets sent over to the US for when I move back. I think I could get used to it.

Wink

Ahhh yes the car babes on that show are something aren't they? I would have mentioned them but I need to be more politically correct and not rude to the women on the board. Nothing like a attractive woman who knows cars and how to drive them! I think Wayne and Garth said it best "Shaaaaawing!"

Unhappy

One thing I miss about moving to the US.... No more Top Gear.

Oh well, at least the cheap gas and V8's make up for it!

Cool

Richard I sent you an email. Ownly yah I figured I spelled that wrong. I like how they also review older cars and what they cost to buy now as well as how they held up to the test of time and driving. I missed the 400hp BMW M5 episode though. I think I will be spending more time watching the Brits satellites for cool shows now. Still no WRC coverage to be found.

N/A you need to keep an eye out on Eurosport or the SKY sport channels, loads of rally coverage. The WRC is usually on EuroSport, others on SKY, like the Australian Rally Championships, and the other rounds of the UK championships, like the Mintex and Pirelli events.

Some of the programs can be a bit tedious with a LOT of talking, but they show a lot of incar footage, and some pretty good external stuff. Well worth keeping an eye out for.

BTW did you catch the TG with VBH driving the P1 Tiff Needell driving the EVO6 and also the Delfino !!!!

The only ones I have got to catch so far were one with the top 13 or so hatchbacks which was boring, the most recent with the performance tuning car, and the one with the Mitsubishi wagon, Audi wagon and I think a Mercedes wagon. Since the satellites aren't the ones I am supposed to look at it limits how much I can watch them. I would ask you for the Apogee or Perigee of the satellites but your not likely to know that. How long ago did they show the Delfino and the other cars? The only channel I have found so far is a BBC World feed that goes to Asia. Thats how I get to see Top Gear right now. Hopefully I can transfer to the UK at the end of the year and then I should have no problems.

If you can get the BBC Grandstand programmes from saturday and sunday afternoons you will be able to see the WRC and BTCC coverage.

They usually feature the races/rallies the weekend after the events, some of the BTCC races are shown live.

Motorweek is more of a generic drive the car around the city and tell everybody what they think of it kind of show. There isn't much performance related about it. They also don't go back and review cars from before to see how they did over the years. That and Motorweek doesn't have Top Gears announcers. I already sent Top Gear my subscription thing online. I still think the US should get this show. Oh and VBH.
