Post Concourse D'Elegance in Palo Alto

Did anyone else go?

They had some impressive cars. I thought it would be all older cars but it was pretty interesting. We snuck in during the afternoon so I'm sure we missed some cool cars that left early. What I remember:

Lotus Elise
Lotus 340R (BELIEVE IT!)
Esprit Turbo
new 911 996 turbo (first time seeing in RL)
Lots of speedster 356
Lots of old 911s

Mustang Shelby Gt500 (WITH HOOD PINS!)
Hemi Cuda
Dodge Charger
Impala SS 4-speed '61

Ferrari:
360 Modena (YAAAWN)
355
348
Testarossa (about six of them - wack cars)
250 (BELIEVE IT!)
Others than that I did not recognize (don't know too much about Ferraris)
Interestingly, no 456 or 550, though I have seen them driving around in the bay area.

BMW Alpina 3.0 CSL (pretty bad-ass)

One of those old Jag racing cars (the on worth like half-a-mil)

QVale (DeTomaso) Mangusta

one Caterham 7 (bad-ass!)

The New Celica that is 500hp AWD (the yellow one that is at all the shows)

The SCC-cover Focus

Lots of Rolls/Bentleys

Packards

Old motorcycles, etc.

Unfortunately, no Subarus. Or TVRs.

I think it was just that one day, sorry. It wasn't that great, you'll see 996 turbos on the road any day now, I see a different 360 once a week. I think Boardwalk VW has the 340R and the Elise (one of each) for some reason. You can go check those out at the store.

I guess the older cars are a little harder to come by, but they have those classic car shows every so often...

Oh and that AWD celica, prolly won't see that too often.

Maybe if I figure out how to scan I can post my pics.

I went. I missed the Lotus section though! Did you see that hot rod Jaguar?! WTF were they smokin? Sounded cool when they started it up though. There was one 240Z on display and it was gorgeous. I wish I could've restored my old Z to that level.
The fully functional 1/4 scale engine models were really cool.
I really liked the Mazda Protoge. Looks really nice w/ the body kit they had.
Most of the compact cars had Eaton S/Cs on 'em. Too bad Subaru didn't have a WRX there to show 'em how its done!

I didn't see those 1/4 models - sounds interesting.

The Jag hot-rod, was that the purple-alien looking thing? That was pretty cool, nice sounds.

The Protege, for a second I thought they had gotten the Lancer here, but then I got a little closer.

I almost missed the Loti. They were off in a corner, I snapped a few pics of the 340R as they were driving back home. I got I pic of the translucent cockpit wall - bad! No pics of the Elise or the Esprit V8 though. I didn't think the 340 was so small in RL - it is tiny. Looks really good.

Angry

How come the car shows in Nor Cal are so sucky? The one at the Mascone center doesn't get a lot of cool concept cars and such. Most of the booths are kind of pathetic. Just a bunch of cars you'll see on the road. I'm going to the Vegas Show from now on.
