Default Nitrous or Water Injection???

Ok, I have done the searches, and now I am looking for some feedback from everyone. What would you reccomend running? Nitrous Express N-tercooler system or a water injection kit? I am leaning towards the NX kit. anyone know where to find one at a good price?

You will see more gains from a WI setup than an Nitrous/CO IC cooler. But only if you have engine management to tune for the WI

i have seen a 02 rex run 12.1 at the track with upgraded turbo, boost controller, TBE, catless up pipe and water injection. He said the WI kit is incredible. i was pretty shocked when i saw it run low 12's. i say go WI.

i have the CO2 setup and i am very happy with it. i would say to go with the CO2 setup. the best and most cost effective way is to piece the kit together, dont buy the whole setup unless the nitrous express halo will fit your intercooler (it doesent fit TMICs) you can find solenoids and different size halos on ebay and the bottle can be gotten at its cheapest from a welding supply shop.

If you have no plans to actually use the nitrous IN your engine, the best way is to set it up to use CO2. bottle fills for a 10lb bottle of nitrous are about $40, but a 10lb bottle of CO2 only costs $15.

pm me for more details. it took some time but i was able to get the exact setup i was looking for.

I wouldn't even put them in the same category (dunno if you are) but like mr2guru said you will get more from WI but it a bit more complicated to do properly.

CO2 just drops the intake temps but WI does a couple of things, drops temps, lowers detonation which means u can raise boost, allows you to mix additives like alcohol, um and sumthing else I can't remember. With additives its like having race fuel only when you need it. If you keep your top mount u may want to do both.

WI is cool!!!

Believe me, i have done plenty of research on both, i just think that with my current setup: up+down pipes, turboback exhaust and the rest stock, the CO2 would be a better bet. But future plans include a PE1820 turbo, STI Injectors, Walbro pump and UTEC. Should I still go with CO2 or WI

I had the same question. We are comparing an IC 'freezing system' to a alchol/water INJECTION system...that makes no sense.

If you are brave enough for water injection, it seems like an amazing, fairly reliable, and very well proven mod. I wish I had the cajones for it, really.

N20 IC SPRAY, would be an easy way to keep your car running well between hard runs, but I don't think it would be good for much more than that, and not a lot of hp either. While true n20 injection would of course be a lot of hp, but I would tune for it or take risks not worth taking.

Sorry if I am repeating info for you, but I was confused on what exactly you are asking.

I agree 100% with LotusDrift I am going with water injection when i get the money, I looked at the n2o/co2 and after alot of mods and what not it only can give u 5hp max if any at all

u should only really need to use it if u are drag racing your car all day but other then that it is kinda pointless just my 2 cents

WI gained me 28 HP, lower injector duty cycles, cooler exhaust temps, thicker detonation resistance, and a higher volumetric efficiency. Also, the emmisions at testing were so low, that the inspector thought that the sensor/computer he was using was broken.

I say it is a must have for big turbos, and is half as much as a front mount intercooler.

Personal opinion (driven by experience) only.

I have also been using water/alcohol injecton for about a year now and have made a few people belivers.....

Im using the aquamist system with a utec and have found that while using WI i can run a 100oct fuel map with little tweeking on chicago 93 oct (which is crap gas)

I can not stress how WI is NOT for everyone! It takes tuning to make power. If you are not good at making changes to your own maps yourself, don't do it. If your not willing to pull your WI system apart to give it a check up 3+ times a year, don't do it.

As additives go, I use 50% distiled water and 50% Heet (thats right, the stuff in the little yellow bottles)

I have also tired: washer fluid
25% Isopropyl alcohol
100% water

With WI do you have to make big changes to the maps.. or are they small changes.. Because i can change little things around on the maps but iam kinda afriad to make big changes.. Because i have been thinking about WI for a while now.. Also if you use 100% water would you have to use a different map then say 25%alcohol? And also j/w where did you buy your WI kit from because it seems its working well for you..

thanks for all your input guys. I made my decision, and the winner is:

I decided to go with the N02. Thanks wkderf for your help. I decided to go with a N02 system that i can easily tune and run. This is just a pic of the bottle after it came out of the paint booth with a fresh coat of WRB paint. Everything is getting installed on Sat. morning, so i will have pics of the finished product then

I have a simple 1S kit. BTW, I had to go out to the Ogden Ice Sheet often during the Olympics. I had just gotten my WRX and had to go to Utah for a month working 12 hr shifts. The only thing that made it worthwhile was a day of skiing in Alta after a fresh 6".

I'm down dear Old Town, and I used up all of my Cristy Corp Drygas so I am on the lookout for more methanol sources.

A few of us are getting together tonight down in Alexandria tonight. PM me if you would be interested.
