Rear door tweeter-to-grill interference.

Mounted the Infinity 4002is in the back doors this morning.

The tweeters were way to far out, hitting the grills by almost 1/2 inch. So I mounted them on the back of the IA adapters and added a couple of layers of foam on the front to make the front flush with the tweeter.

I had to do the same thing with my infinity 4" references.

i have the same problem with the same speakers! i tried dremeling down some of the honeycomb on the rear plastic door grills, but the tweeter still hits it.

may be a dumb question, but how did you get the speaker and spacer to fit into the inside of the door? were you able to fit it through one of the holes in the door? my doors are completely covered in raammat, so i can't remember if the holes are big enough to fit a speaker and spacer through....TIA!

mount the spacer in front of the speaker, not behind it like you usually would.

then, mount the entire assembly to the speaker holes. the spacer is still outside the door skin, but the speaker is sandwiched between the spacer and the door skin. this should give you enough tweeter clearance if you shave the panel.

Sure, the best system is the one that sounds best to you. But, I suggest trying a few things, like bandpassing the rear fill and playing with the fader. You might find you like it even better.

Glad to see the rears mounted from the back side worked out. Did you top mount our back mount the adapter plates?

The speaker is inside the adapter, and the adapter is outside the door. The adapters fit perfectly, plenty of hardware, great product!

Craft store. Had them left over from doing dash upholstery on my 911.

I have the rear volume set up such that the rears basically just provide "delay" anyway. The delay settings in the 9813 help too. I haven't found that having the high frequency info on the rears detracts from the sound for me.

If the 9813 lets you bandpass the rear channels, I'll check into that and see if I can hear an improvement.
