Default FP18 log w/question

I just finished adding an FP18G, UR600cc injectors and TXS TMIC to what was previously a Stage 2 car. I took one log and was hoping to get some input. I was getting white smoke just revving it up in my garage so I'm a little worried. This is the TXS Stage 4 w/FMIC map (unaltered) and it idles fine, even with the 600cc injectors. I let the car idle in my garage and the temperature gauge started to go up. I removed some coolant (over filled by accident) and restarted it. The temp stayed normal. Does that make any sense?

Wow. So which is skewed? TPS or rpm? Were you seeing max rpms on your tach or was it only going to 4k at max TPS?

I guess I didn't rev it over 4K. My boost gauge hit 18 and white smoke was billowing out so I flinched and let off the throttle. I don't see how it could be head gasket though. It was blowing some white smoke when I was pulling out of my driveway, before I hit any boost.

That's a good call. I did get quite a bit down there. I had the dp off after the fact, but some had to have made it further along.

It'll burn out. I smoked for a good 40 minutes after I installed the Green.. so don't worry about it. Drive it around for a day, do another full log and post it so we can see a full run.

Another thing, when you post the log, just type in [ c o d e ] [ / c o d e ] without the spaces and put the log between the two.. that'll make things so much easier to read.

Just let it sit and idle or just drive it around mildly. That'll burn out the coolant.

Well the white smoke did go away, and the temperature stays where it should be. Now I can't get my boost to go down. I did a few logs and in second and third the boost hits 19+ every time. I turned the ABC down a turn. No difference. I reduced my boost values by 20. Nothing. I reduced my boost values by 40. Still nothing. My values start at 160 now (closed boost). I'm not getting any knock events, but it seems to stumble at higher rpm's. Not that I'm even revving it that high. I need to get this thing tuned.

Check your boost lines. Make sure the little restrictor in the boost line faces towards the compressor housing.. if you have that backwards then you will have no control over the boost. That's exactly what happened to me. I changed to CLB and moved the values up 100 points and turned the ABC up and boost didn't budge. I switched the lines, and voila.

Default problem solved

After switching my lines (thanks to Big Turkey) and talking to Forced Performance and Turbo XS I was able to understand my problem and get my boost under control. With the lines oriented correctly I was hitting 21 psi. The wastegate actuator is set to a certain level from FP and it can be adjusted if need be but I was able to lower my boost to 18 psi by lowering my boost values down to a starting point of 100. It feels a bit jerky at higher rpm due to the inability of the factory boost solenoid to handle the boost. I'm waiting for a TXS MBC to take care of that problem.

Like I said before the car cold starts and idles great with the UR600's and the Stage 4 base map. I can only compare this turbo to the stock one, but it seems pretty sweet. It's pretty mellow and all of a sudden you're at 18 psi and hauling a**. I can't wait to get this thing dyno tuned. As soon as the updated UTEC software comes out I will be hitting the dyno and will post the results.
