Question Snowbird

So a wek from nnow a few friends and I are making our first trip to Snowbird and Alta. I'm sure the skiing itself is worth the trip, but we are also looking to hit up the local nightlife.

Looking for recommended bars, restaurants and clubs?

Also, might try to visit Cobb Tuning on an off day.

Peace,
Oquipah

Hmm, nightlife in SLC... I suspect you guys will be disappointed with that aspect of the trip. Maybe some of the other guys can give you the name of a half-way decent bar or club. I really can't think of any myself as its not something I've ever thought would be worth exploring around here (being from Chicago and all). If I were to recommend anything it would be to go up to Park City in the old town section (main street). There are alot of interesting shops, bars and restaurants up there and its a cool little mountain town. There are some good restaurants in SLC here and there. I've always liked Rivers which is close to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon right near I-215. In good weather it would take probably 20 minutes to get there from Alta or Snowbird. Its a nice place and the food has always been great.

Thanks for what I thought I might hear. We rented a car, so Park City is on our hit list as well. I'll check out some of the places you mentioned.

Thanks again!

IF you head up to park city check out Harry O's. When celebs come to town for the Sun Dance film fest that's where they hang out. Or you could try Axis in SLC. That was the Offical night club for the Olympics in 2002. Good luck and have fun!!!

Man, it totally depends what kind of night-life you're into. If you're into the dance-club scene there are places like Axis, Shaggy's, Area51 (some clubs have gay-nights on either Fri/Sat though, so make sure to show up on the appropriate night ) , if you're into the kind-of sports-bar type place there's Port-O-Call, or if you're into the more local music type scene, the Urban Lounge is a good one. If you want to get some fancy beers and/or food The Bayou is a pretty chill place to hang out that's usually pretty busy and on the weekends they have a live jazz band, it's a cool place to hang and have good wine/beer, but not the greatest for really meeting people (but they do have a couple pool tables).

Thumbs up It's True

Utah DOES have the greatest snow on earth!

The week we were there 7 fresh feet of the fluffy stuff fell. Perfect conditions for all but the first day which was a blizzard.

Broke a ski and ended up demo-ing several pairs. Guess it's time to shell out some dough for new sticks.

We didn't get to do too much apres-ski, as the canyon road was closed when we had energy to go out.

On a day off we drove out to Park City which seems a lot more lively, albeit, much more expensive than SLC.

We are already planning a return trip for next season, and maybe that time we'll be able to see Cobb and some of the clubs you guys mentioned and maybe have an impromptu NASIOC meet on the slopes or bars!

Peace,
Oquipah
