Default Cols: Will anyone help me install?

Alright well I was going to buy a ver 5 spoiler, but then I learned im going to hilton head, and I get to drive. One small prob...MY ari/fuel sucks bizzalls! I'm pretty much getting horrible gas mileage and I dont want to stop very offten. So im buying a proecm or torque chip to get my air/fuel back online. I was wondering if anyone wants to help me install it, or has experience installing it. If I get on the ball and buy it soon, I'm not sure when it will be in. I might not have it this weekend, and bowling is the weekend after that. So can anyone help?

Why is your mixture messed up? Do you have different injectors or a turbo or something?

noo, just intake exhaust and headers. Thats why I was confused too!! But hey atleast ill make a extra 4 hp and 7ftlb of torque! It use to be I was on the verge between lean and mixed, but at high rpms it would be lean. But after my headers now all i get is lean the entire time.

its more likley you gague being off than a horrible A/F ratio .... i dont know about your car but the Rex it has to be in the right place to get a correct reading and even then it is not exact w/o a wideband ....correct me if im wrong Old wise ones

Grrr yer right. But I have been getting horrible gas mileage. I mean I would still kind of like a tiny bit more power than show. And after this "performance" mod im offically done with stuff to make my car go faster. Then ill just wait for you, Jesse, to total your car, then ill buy your engine!!

The strange thing is that if it's any of the engine control sensors, if it's malfunctioning in any way the MIL should indicate something unless the Subaru code isn't meeting regulation.

The ECU should compensate to an extent for the freed up exhaust over time. Your A/F meter is worthless. The way the Subaru management is setup you don't need a wideband O2 sensor to get proper fueling like Honda uses since most of them have an airflow meter. The only thing your O2 sensor is reading is the area around complete combustion.

Anyway, getting a new ECU or chip or whatever you're talking about will not fix your fuel economy problems. I'd probably go with some sort of ignition breakdown theory at the moment since like I said before any problem with most other engine parts that have to do with proper fueling should be detected by the ECU.

what do you mean? You think it has something with my ignition? I hope not Haha and yeah I know my stupid air/fuel is useless, I just figured maybe it was doing a little bit of its job, since i seem to be getting horrible fuel mileage. Could I possibly need to run a little bit better fuel? Like right now I just use regular. Also whats the MIL?? Ive been gettin a cel ever since my headers...so i figured it was associated with those, I couldnt be something else could it?

I think im going to go ahead and still buy the proecm since it sounds like a good thing to have, even if it doesnt fix my air/fuel. Gets rid of that dang rev limiter and speed limiter(not that I got anywhere near max speed ) Plus 4hp and 7ftlb trq. Then its time to start on my suspension!!

I could pull your code real quick next time we run into each other. I keep an Actron scanner in the car 24/7.

I asked about the plugs because they are like little "dipsticks" for your cylinders. If you're running rich or lean they'll tell you -with a good degree more reliability than your A/F guage.

I was thinking ignition as well, but I was waiting on your plug response.
Barring driving around with your parking brake on, I have found that sudden excessive fuel consumption is nearly 100% ignition related. Likely to be something simple, and easily remedied by a tune-up.

Tune up as in what? Do you think I could use new plugs? When I bought the car the guy had already ordered new wires and plugs from subaru. They shouldnt go bad in like 8 months should they?

Are you sure they were new? Did he give you the old plugs/wires?

I say pull the plugs for inspection. Only on rare occasions will you need to do any more than clean them up. At least you will know whether you're running rich or not.

Yeah I bought the car before they arrived to the dealership. His mom lives down here and she delieverd them, and we had our mechanic install them. Is it easy to pull the plugs? I heard they were hard to get to on out engines.
