Before I put in the red pipe for my intake I wanted to do an intake similar to what you guys are running. But I had some questions

1) Do you need that air horn (or bell or whatever that metal thing is that directs the air in the filter)?

2) where do you get one of those and how much?

3) any worries about water? I assume this kind of setup would have more chance of sucking up water than what i have...

I'm probably not going to use the weapon R pipe since I don't wanna blow 100+ just so i can hack it up and use 3" of it...I'll probably make something out of some "left over parts" my friend has from totally rebuilding his 92 stealth turbo...

just a few more questions though...

does that "bell" help at all?
and any down side effects from this setup?

I'm not exactly sure how I want to go about doing this...I want to try something a bit different from what you guys have just for comparison sake...but will have something pretty close to what you guys have...

The bell has to help...You can buy them with a filter for $25 to $100 (25 is used but thats ok). This setup is like version 5 beta...the next setup will be better, the whole cold air box is the bell w/ a flat filter on top...very similar to stock, but not. It will still be "ram air".
The current version would need a tidal wave or a deep (4-5')puddle (that is feet not inches)to get enough water in but I would still like to improve upon it for safety.
The other bad thing is its tendency to make you go over the posted limits because it is pulling past the current limiter
