OT: New Job/Company Car Question
-
I am about to be offered a job as a federal investigator and instead of giving you a car, they pay you .325 cents per mile. The lady I interviewed with said that she normally gets between $250 and $600 a month for mileage. My question is this. I refuse to drive my 2.5 as a company car. Too many miles, too much wear and tear, etc. But can I afford another car and insurance with this .325 cents a mile. And what kind of car should I get. I will be on the road a LOT so I need something half way large and safe. I would like to get a Crown Vic just because it would match the postiion very well. Are these things really as much junk as people say. I am new to this company car thing, so any and all advice will be greatly appreciated!!!

What I would do is first try to check actually how many miles I will be doing. If it bothers you to put that kind of miles to your car get a used car and use it for work and leave the rs home. Normally you only travel in the area that you are working at.
