Post Ugly rear end

Man, the rest of the RS looks sooooo nice, why does it have that weak ass, rear end? Almost looks like a regular econo-bucket with a wing from the back, and since that's the only thing people ever see.....

Hehe, right on midway man. The rear spats make it look much nicer though.

Simple yes, plain sure. but UGLY? wtf? I thing the RS has a nice conservative, simple honda civic easy to look at rear end. I do not think that is a bad thing.

Nick: in his defense, he never said ugly, he just said weak. which it is. it's the same rear end as a 93 impreza L, if you think about it. How flashy is that? you know? i mean, i still ove it and all, but midway is right, the front looks soooooo badass, and the sides look nice with the body-colored trim, and teh ground effects. why not do anything to the back more than an exhaust tip? a mind boggler

I bought the car in spite of the weak back end view... I think any of the newer WRX/STI version 4/5/6 wing's would fix that though... especially if you added some spats.

can't have it all I guess...

edit - change 'spoiler' to 'wing'... jeez - you'd expect more...

Guys, I agree...it isn't ugly...just weak. There needs to be something else that can be done to the bumper besides the rear splats. I like them, but I plan on getting the Greddy Front Lip for the front of the car, so that leaves my rear end kinda higher than the front. It kinda blows, but what the hell can you do?! Or does anybody know of anything else that can be done to the rear bumper?

I dunno. I think the big knot of differential under there makes it look pretty butch. Works for me. =)

MrX and Midwayman:

Simple solution: buy a custom rear bumper from www.speedlab.com ,or get rear spats. I will be getting the "Varis" rear bumper from speedlab. when you go to Impreza body parts it is the top pic.

Reminds me of the older Camry butts or a Dodge Shadow rear end.

WTF?!!! Do you guys think you're buying a Jaguar or Ferrari?! It IS a freakin' "econobox!" Just like all the other econoboxes that get pimped by the OEM or aftermarket, they all share the same basic premise. You're driving an "affordable" runabout with rally-inspired aero-cladding... hell, nearly 99% of all rally cars are econoboxes with agressive cladding and monster motors.

Man, fact remains that the rear end is a weak design element in a otherwise beautiful car. I was just sitting at the autox looking at it parked head in, and the rear end just didnt belong as it was sandwiched between sc2000's and M3's.
