Have a Nice Day? My subie is going under the knife.....

Well Wednesday, my subie will hopfully be going under the knife, im bringing it to the dealer with a warrenty sh%t list. Lets see what they actually fix: I have 5k on a MY00

1. Steering Wheel off center, since delivery has already been in at 1000 miles for this, did not fix.

2. Screw covers on both doors missing since delivery, also in at 1000 miles for this.

3. Rotten Egg smell after hard acceleration

4. Wont go into first gear sometimes, has gotten stuck in first, had to rip it out

5. Driver side window, growls when going up and down.

6. Clutch gets stuck very close to floor most of the times,(b4 it engages.)

Add on* 7. rough idle most of the time. The whole car shakes.

Add on* Paint is bubbling on L.R. quarter panal.

Theres probably more stuff im forgetting.

We will see what happens.

I forgot about the 9 million rattles that they didnt fix at 1000 miles also.

That is some list of things wrong. See if you can just get rid of the car as a lemon. It may take you forever to get them to fix the car correctly. Just go to the dealership to humor yourself and then call SOA. Call a few times if you have to. If they are going to fix it then they had better supply the rental car and fix it on the first visit. There has been a couple people say that its taken them numerous tries to fix something.

you should be able to get a rental car. I am 21 but when I was 20 I had to get a rental car and was able to get one although the delership did have to pay more to get me the rental(only $10 more a day)I think it was enterprise but have them get you a rental or at least have them get your mom or dad a rental and you use their car

Hey Mc'
Dude, go talk to one of the dealers at your Lincoln/Mercury. When I almost made the mistake of getting a Cougar, I spoke to one of the dealers there. His last job? Bloomfield Subaru. Eh... it might help, ya know? Later.

McDade,
The dealer can get a rental for you being under 21, but there is an extra charge. Don't let them tell you otherwise. I know that at least 1 of the major car rental companies will let you do it because I have had friends who needed rental cars for business travel that were under 21.

I had a list of problems just like that for my OBS, except that I also had a major transmission problem that they tried to fix 4 times. It was nearly impossible to finally get them to swap me into another Subaru. Basically, it has to be a major problem that they try to fix repeatdly in order for them to swap cars...and even then it's not free. I paid about $2000 to get into the RS. A great deal, but not free.

I'm crossing my fingers that my RS doesn't have any of these problems...I really like that damn car, and I'd be on the warpath in a second if anything actually happened like that...My car is going in tomorrow to get the Gauge Pack and the Security System installed...And now that I think of it, they have to check the driver's side center vent because it doesn't blow air well...Hrm...But I can live with that! And some of the black moulding above the driver's side door popped out of it's holding thingie, but I pushed it back in...I'm having them look at that...Hrm...I'm going to go stew so I'm ready for tomorrow at the dealers ...Other than those two minor problems, the car does what I want with finesse

Just a heads up, you will never get a car lemoned for something being out of adjustment (Steering wheel). It has to be a repeated defect, not just shoddy work by the dealer. Trust me, I went throught the whole lemon law ordeal with a Dodge Neon in 1995. They finally reimbursed me my first 14 payments (it took that long for them to settle), I them promptly traded the car in on something else.

Speaking of the cougar, I am trading my 99 cougar V6 in tomorrow for a new MY00 RS coupe. I had so many problems with that car, I just got sick of it. Had the brakes replaced twice, had the radio replaced twice, the upholstry was falling out of the seat, the fuel rails in the engine got stuck closed, the hatchback didn't open, and most recently, I broke the connection between the stick and the tranny, sticking the car in 1st gear on Rt. 9 in Freehold. Hopefully, I will have better luck with the RS.
