Default FXT Manual + custom moonroof.

OK, SOA did a really stupid thing not placing moonroofs and 5MT in one car, I think everybody admitted it by now. But can we fix it? Are there reliable garages that install custom moonroofs and give a good warranty on their job? Will Subaru's warranty void in this case? Summer is coming and I really like that huge moonroof. I want it!!! Anybody else share the same feelings?

anyone i've ever talked to about aftermarket moonroofs tells horror stories. This isn't to say that it can't be done, but I think its far from ideal. Things like leakage, switch failure, poor replacement of headliner, premature rusting, lack of factory warranty come to mind. you're basically paying someone to cut a hole in your roof. the factory made cut-outs are done before galvanizing & painting, so the aftermarket ones will probably rust at some point.

The other thing that bothers me about an aftermarket sunroof in the FXT is that the headlined has a weird contour and it would be difficult to get a sunroof to look good.

I've had what you're describing for six months. My dealer goes thru a local installer to have the Webesto brand powered sunroofs installed...with warranty! It's a normal sized sunroof (not the big forester one) with tilt feature and two memory settings. It matches the line of the roof perfectly, doesn't leak (yet?), and has a retractable sun shade. So far all I've noticed is that the sun shade will rattle slightly when going off-road, but on-road is ok. To top it off, the dealer added the installation price in with my financing. I don't know who my dealer goes thru but you might call them to find out. From what I am led too understand, the installers are a nationwide chain, so someone might be near you.

Mine is awesome, lifetime guarentee, auto touch open, not much smaller then the AT transmisson one.

Look for a reputible place that does alot of autoglass. No leaks, no cracks, as good as OE.

Bry.
