I don't have the experience with cars that you do, but I'm a newbie and I'm so glad this is available. I've already found tons of great information here that will help me build up the 99RS that I have now, and hopefully a turbo when its available. Glad to see some others coming in.

Hello! Welcome to the iClub!

The first rally car I ever laid eyes on was on some European magazine which had the first generation RX-7 racing through the forest. So I owe it to Mazda for pulling me into the racing world of Rallying. I think the driver's name was Miller. Can't remember the first name though.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. Ive been checking out the Subies for about a year and a half now. I love the way they look but they've been a little bit underpowered for me. I cant wait for the turbo to come out. I absolutely love my 3rd Gen. RX7's but as soon as the turbo comes out i'll trade the RX in a heartbeat, so that speaks heavily for the Subie :-) I have seen the pics of the so called upcoming Impreza, and to tell you the truth i'm kinda mixed on it. I like the way it looks. It just looks a little too refined. I mean, i cant see that style Impreza jumping 5 feet in the air or forging a stream 2 feet deep. Anyone else feel that way? just wondering. I'm sure i'll have questions about the Impreza since i'm not real familiar with the flat 4 engine layout, so thanks for the info offer.

Girl's RS if you dont mind me asking where are you moving from? There's not much to do in Albany, lol :-)

Thanks

You gotta love the rotaries. My first car was an '83 RX-7. I still miss it. Since then I've been through 3 Hondas( rolled one, sold the others) which is where i discovered the beauty of AWD and got hooked on engine swaps.
But then I caught wind of the RS and its potential and I was history. Sold one Honda for a down payment(still have one for a project car) and have a nice new 00RS. Welcome to the addiction

-ImprezaRS.com i wish i didnt sell the heavy modded RX7 that i had. But the guy who wanted it payed me a ridiculous amount of money for it. More than what i had into it including the cost of the car. I guess thats the way the ball bounces. Now i'm selling my stock RX7 too.But only cause i'm replacing it with another RX7 only with less miles. I might mod this one too although i'd take a different approach than my last modded RX7 which was around 344hp@the wheels but had a single turbo setup which was fast but not all that streetable due to the turbos characteristics. I'll prob keep the twins on the next RX7 that i flex out.

On the other hand i cant wait for the new Impreza turbo to come out. I just wish they would keep the current body style. I like it. I'm not too familiar with the EJ2's and the EJ22(?)but i get the impression that they are excellent motors. I personally think that we will get a watered down or detuned setup as opposed to overseas setup. I believe that if we do get a detuned EJ thats underboosted then there will be big power gains availiable through intake/exhaust/ECU tuning with the emphasis on ECU. There's mucho untapped power in properly remapped ECU's for factory turbo cars.just my thoughts. Later everyone and remember to do it in the dirt! lol

Rotrpower (i like that.. rotor power ei: rotary) very nice.. anyway welcome to the club.. I too had a 1993 RX7 w/ heavy mods, but unfortunatley heavy detonation was its untimely downfall.. I was running a pettit racing ecu and downpipe, peter farrel intake and exaust and intercooler.. I had a single HKS turbo for a while, but switched back to the hitachi twin becasue like you said it was not very streetworthy (wet roads became a pain in the ass at stoplights.. hehe). It had a bunch of suspension goodies and more gauges than I knew what to do with (you know what I am talking about Anyway.. glad you are coming over to the subaru side.. it aint no RX7, but I think in all it has more potential.. It just costs a lot more to get power out of them! Welcome.

mike

Actually.. i just reread your post and you are waiting on the turbo WRX.. good call.. Im planning on doing the same.. Im hoping the subaru responds well to ecu upgrades like the RX7.. I guess we will have to see!

It was Rod Millen. From New Zealand I think. Don't know what's happened to him since though.

Actually its funny that you mentioned it. Come to think of it, Peter Farrell is from New Zealand and he also used to rally race. Oh well. Oh and last i saw Rod Millen he was dragging a 4th Gen. Supra. He was at Lone Star Nationals maybe? lost to Ari Yallon's RX7. I've been lucky in that i've never detonated either of my RX7's. But i've always used Sunoco 94 octane and water wetter in both. The heavy modded RX that i just sold had a M2 intercooler, ECU, downpipe, Racing Beat cat back, lightened flywheel, XS eng. single turbo, BOV, the whole nine. It was low boosted (14psi) so thats why low hp for single turbo(344hp@wheels). It was fast and fun, ran mid to high twelves on NT555's and 11.9's on drag radials. But like you said totally worthless in anything other than dry pavement. Also not fun if your cornering hard off the turbo and then all of a sudden the turbo spools up in mid corner. It shifts the weight harder and upsets the balance of the car and its real scary--trust me. Anyways, this is a Subie board so i dont mean to talk Rotaries here. I'm waiting for the Impreza turbo to come out over here. Ive seen the photoshop posts of the so called new impreza and they quite amusing. Someone with too much time on their hands i guess? When the turbo drops here i'm definetly going to rally it. I think its in my blood:-)
Ive been playing in the dirt(dirt bikes, ATV's, etc) ever since i was 4 so the turbo Impreza gives me a good excuse to go make mud pies! lol. Now if only i could find my co-driver... hmmmm..... where'd he go?
Opps! tornado watch gotta go guys!!
button down the hatches everyone and remember "do it in the dirt!"
