Question Who wash their own car?

Is washing your own Impreza part of the pride
of ownership? Its been a week since I got my MY00 and it just got its first wash.

How many here wash their own car?
or go to a car wash?
How often? And what do you recommend/avoid?

Looks like we all love our Impreza...
to look good.

me: looking at twice a month.

Recs???

Stay away from dish washing detergent and genuine chamois. They both take the wax off your car.

Thumbs up

I wash mine every 1-2 weeks. I think I've waxed it twice. I haven't had very good experience with most of the car washes around here. They either scratch the paint, don't get it clean or both.

I wash mine 3 or 4 times a month, usually on Sundays. I've never taken it to an automatic car wash of any kind.

Wash? What's "wash?" Seriously, though...we have hard water around here, so washing is a total pain. Calcium spots all over the paint when it dries. Even waxing doesn't pull them out.

I washed the car for the first time in, uhm, 14 months for the Trunkmonkey pics. Even hard scrubbing with car wash mits and quite a bit of dish soap didn't get out the grime, so I did the best I could and used Turtle Wax Quickshine to get it glossy.

Eventually I'll pay the $150 for a full wash/buff/wax/detail to make it look like new. It'll be the only way to repair the paint.

Trunkmonkey is here! Vinyl windshield banners and decals now available!

Well, depends, during the summer, usually once a week (depending on whether or not it's going to rain and how dusty it is outside).. otherwise, during the winter, once every 2-3 weeks... but I also wash the undercarriage every 2 weeks in the winter to prevent any rust

I have a couple of small scratches on the front side of my wing that I think are from a bad car wash. Has anyone else seen this?

Also, the same place (which I never went back to) scuffs the driverís side tires a little.

Cool

OK...does this make me insane?

On Sunday I was goin to Laguna Seca to see the historic car races...and wanted my Impreza to look good.

So I...uh...well I spent 6 hours washing the car. And I...mmm...wash it every week. Oh yeah, that was 6 hours for the outside. The inside took another...2 hours.

My Doctor said it was healthy to talk about it.

Have a Nice Day?

Am I crazy??? I wash mine 3-4 times a week, keep it in a garage, and wax about 1-2 times a month. AND it's silver. And I've had it since November. Please tell me I'm not insane...

I wash the car (when it's home ) twice a week and do the inside once every two weeks. I use three stage waxes so the car gets the glaze/wax portion every time, though I occasionally just use some Hand Glaze or other finishing product when I'm in a hurry.

Takes me about 3 hours or so to wash the car. The interior takes 1 hour. And it's healthy to talk about it. My imaginary car wash attendant said so.

It's completely sane for us to want to wash our cars so much, and there's a reason for it...

They're the nicest F#$@KING cars on the road!

Our cars get a lot of attention, we need them to look their best at all times, wash them as much as you can, and wax them the same!

One must spend every waking hour upkeeping their Impreza, must dream about it when asleep, even daydream about it when awake. One must have the utmost respect for their Impreza, you have to love it! Live it! Be it! LONG LIVE IMPREZA!! THEY'RE THE B#$^DSRGHLJS%Y$#JEGDSGJK%$^$!! MURUFURFUR!!

(Only a muffled scream comes from Imprezavation as the guards tackle him and put him back in his rubber room....)
