Default new install - help me!!!

So I got my bonus this week and I've been looking to upgrade my car audio in my WRX. I bought it used and the owner had some stuff done to it. The sub is blown I believe, it was an Image Dynamics 12" in a small sealed box. The sub amp is an Eclipse 33230. Then he hooked he factory upgraded speakers to a Carver M-240 amp with the factory headunit.

I'm pretty set on the Alpine 9815 since I can get one for about $350. I'm going to keep the Eclipse amp for the sub and replace everything else. For the sub, I used to have a JBL 10" sub in a ported tube, and it was plenty loud for me. I'm pretty sure I want to go with a 10" sub in a ported enclosure since I listen mostly to rock/alternative. Do I have this right?

For the front speakers I want 6.5" components and coaxials for the rear fills. Lay your advice and wisdom on me now before I let my bonus check burn a hole in my pocket.

Replace the sub, ID makes excellent subs. Then, replace the sub amp, Eclipse amps aren't exactly known for power , I"m willing to bet the reason the sub blew was from a clipped signal by driving the amp past its limits. I run 2 12 IDQ subs myself and they have performed flawlessly, I'm also feeding them the power they need.

THe 9815 is a great deck, I bought mine last summer.

Hay,

If you look at some of the other posts, you'll see one who has a single 10" in a WRX specific box that fits in the left corner of the trunk....very nice..... any sub will do really some are better than others ofcourse....for rock/alt. styles of music you prolly be better off with a sealed box, they give a tighter response and are more forgiving when driven hard....they are usualy smaller as well

Components and co-axis are the way to go for mid/high. I wouldn't worry alot about powering the rears with an amp, they could run from the HU and you could use more power on the fronts that way.......

All-in-all sounds good..!!

Good luck, good sounds,
AaRoN
