Welcome to the club!
As for mods? I have done nothing permanent just for that reason. I dropped in a K&N air filter, and that seemed to make the car a bit peppier. Also, think about putting on a bigger rear swaybar. I put on a 18mm, and with the stock suspension that seems to tighten up the turning quite a bit. Oh yeah, get new tires, the RE92s on your car suck. I'm ditchin mine the second i have the cash. Other than that, enjoy your new ride. This is hands down the best car I have EVER owned! Enjoy!

Jon,

Congrats and welcome. You'll find that the Impreza is a terrific car ... even in stock mode. However, as most people on this board, you will end up modifiying the car one way or another.

In theory, you can do anything you want to the car, and it is on the dealership to prove that the modification caused the "injury" to the car. IF they can prove that then the repair will not be covered. Otherwise, it should be covered. For more information, there's a great page on ClubB5 (a VW Passat site).

Hey Jon,

Welcome!! I've had my '00 for about three months now, have done 7500 miles, and have been gripped by the RS fever pretty hard. There are actually quite a few mods you can do that don't void the warranty, and always keep in mind that the dealer will have to prove that, in the case of a warranty claim, an aftermarket part was directly responsible for the defect your claiming. They can't tell you your clutch went bad because you put on a new exhaust!

As for mods, so far I've installed a Kartboy shifter, a new horn, a whiteline 18-22 rear swaybar, and a primitive racing front skid plate. I'm waiting to install a SPO rear diff protector, a set of AGX shocks, 5Zigen springs, whiteline front and rear end links, STi motor and tranny mounts, a racing seat, and a Sparco strut bar until all the parts come in (beware of Groupbuys, they're addictive!)... None of this should have any adverse effect on my warranty!

Have fun

Welcome Jon, there's currently a group buy going on for Kartboy short shifters and/or bushings, check it out here: http://www.impreza-rs.com/ubb-files/...ML/002005.html

WARNING: Group buys will lead to addictive shopping behaviours, and improved vehicle perfomance & handling dynamics

you know something. I think that is what a car enthusiast is. Someone who knows the factory forgot to do something else to the car. Cmon SOA, you forgot my pink i, clear sides, fronts, rears, and most importantly a turbo.
