Default That was fun...

We'll....we're getting a new ER at Porter as some of you ma know. They didn't advertise one little thing because they gave it to the employees instead. We got free BBQ and several sledge hammers and construction tools. We got to destroy the old half and get fed for it . So an hour later after breaking 2 sledge hammers, I had 4 built in cabinets, a large chunk of the center desk, a steel doorway and a few walls on my scoresheet . A little destruction is good for the soul . I've gotta go back and get some pictures.

Okay, here's a few I'll post more later. We're still working on it . 14 rooms and open space takes some work. I was impressed by the amount of destruction by our band of hooligans. This is all to become the new ccu-ER extension, I think. Electricity was off, and o2 lines and what not were shut off, too. It was a good way to release some aggression. More later...

That top photo was the old psych corner where we stuck the drunks. The middle was the center desk, and the bottom one was I think room 3.

Here's room 2 from a good angle.

This is what's left of radiology...

Room 4...

And 2 to grow on!

This was all accomplished by a few sober people! About 20 of us at one point were banging away like we were building something. Dr's, techs, nurses..everyone took at least a few swings. Expensive stuff was all removed and rebuilt in the new sections....only the structure was left. It was all signed off for demolition a few days ago and not much was left standing as of 5 o'clock. They actually chased us all off around 3 because in every room you couldn't see the floor though the smashed junk.

For every medical professional who's been yelled at by a drunk, written up by a drug seeker, kicked around by a jerk doctor, brow-beaten by a clueless latte-sucking yuppie, been assaulted by a psych patient, or decked by a feisty German grandma...only to be thanked by mounds of redundant paper-work and a tempermental computer, moronic insurance companies, slashed budgets and a high turn over rate.........

This bud's for you!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was destruction well earned with a damn good meal to boot. It puts us weeks ahead on the expansion and saved thousands of dollars. Construction just has to clean out the rooms now and put everything up. Most of the walls are already gone. We'll have a 40 bed ER before summer...

Hey! I recognize alot of that stuff. Porter is where my friends hauled my stupid ass when I got a nasty concussion new years eve... and my separated shoulder two years ago... and my dislocated before that...

Seriously though, you medical professional types take WAY more shiat than anyone should have to put up with, let alone a person who is out there trying to save lives. Thanks alot for being around when it counts.... and putting up with awful working conditions.... corporate beancounters.... obnoxious white trash.... and the occasional crackhead.
