Default BIG Subie Meet in BHam March 6-8!

Maybe If I plan a little more than 1 day ahead of time we can actually get a meeting together. Who's up for a get-together??

Lets get 8 cars this time!

MONTHS???? I guess we'll NEVER have a get-together again.

Surely we can have some fun without Shagn for once. He goes to all of them anyways, maybe it will turn out to be more fun without him.

Ok, so who wants to meet up anyways? A good reason could be spite for Shagn!

Hey I know, I just thinking off the cuff but how about a meet in ... April? Say April 10th, and while we're at it have a caravan to the warehouse meet.

Nothing like planning in advance.

Talking The X-man gets serious......

On a serious note, I am getting my clutch kit in the next 2 or 3 weeks and am looking to do the install myself. Exedy organic clutch mated with an Exedy flywheel. If things go as planned, I will be doing the Uppipe/Downpipe at the same time. Who's up for helping a fellow Scooby driver out? It will probably be closer to the 3 week window. I am on standby right now becuase Uncle Sam is holding my money...

Think the clutch/flywheel and the uppipe/downpipe can be done in 1 weekend?!?

It really depends on where we are doing it...

In a garage, on the floor... Maybe...

On a lift, 1 day max....

I'd like to help out w/ the clutch job to get experience

Todd's got the factory manuals, so that'll help out a lot

Who is Todd and would he let me borrow the manuals? And the work will be preformed while "The X" is on jackstands (in a garage).

What? Leave town for the first F1 race? I will either be karting, watching F1 or too drunk to drive to Birmingham (or anywhere).

Scooby Update. After talking to the Assistant Service Manager where I bought my car, they may do the clutch/flywheel under warranty. I have to run it past the Service Manager. Ahem... seems like the clutch has been shuddering... if you know what I mean. I'll keep you guys up to date. Crash... I still want the info......

Shea, you don't have aftermarket stuff do you? If so, get rid of it for the "Warranty" repairs..

No, not really. Blitz Dual Turbo Timer, Borla cat-back and a K&N filter. All 3 cats are intact. They know what all I have done to the car. I plan on stopping and sitting down with the Manager this evening. I am going to explain to him that I am not going to pay for the labor even if they pull the tranny and want to deny warranty. Besides, I am in good with the dealership. Maybe they will cut me a break. I am good buisiness for them... I plan on telling the manager that I am going to buy the parts. Maybe that will help grease his palms...

If you already have a good rapport, then that's probably 90 percent of the battle. I know there is a TSB out there for the "Shuddering Clutch" thang. If you can take advantage of that, then rock on wit yo bad self.

BTW - Which dealer do you plan on using? It would be good to know where to take modded cars for repairs.

Good news for me.... Bad news for Crash's learning experience.
The Service Manager said that he would do it. Not only would he do it, but he recommended that I wait until the Subaru Technician got back from attending classes. He didn't want anyone fooling with my car but the Tech. He said that they would put whatever parts I wanted back into it (clutch kit, flywheel). The only thing was that he would have to list it as the original part numbers on the slip so that they could get paid by Subaru. He also said that they couldn't reimburse me the money that I use to buy my clutch kit and flywheel. I don't care, as long as my parts get put in. He said that general procedure for a shuddering clutch is to replace the clutch, pressure plate, bearing, and flywheel.

As for modified Scoobies... one of the mechanics(not the Subaru Tech.) told me that they denied a syncro/gear warranty claim becuase of an uppipe and downpipe. Both of which I have yet to purchase and put on my car.

I will mention the dealership after the work is done. I want to make sure that everything goes without a hitch.
