I have done alot of reading on the site and posted a question recently asking about Amsoil oil filters. The part # is SDF20 and looks to be one of the best.

Alot better then the Scam, err... fram

Wink

Puralator oil filters are very good and not quite as expensive as Amsoil. I got two this weekend at Pep Boys for $3.19 each. I think the part No. is L14460, but don't quote me on that. It's the same part as the '99 filter. I changed my oil on monday. I am going to switch to synthetic after that. Probably Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic, but at ~$4.50 each, maybe I'll rethink it.

Ooops! I didn't read your post carefully. That part number is for an RS. i don't know the part number for the Outback Impreza(?), which has a 2.2L engine right?

I've been told to stay away from Fram becuase they can't handle the engine oil pressure generated by the RS. I don't know if that goes for the Outback. I think Subaru uses puralator as their stock filter.
