I think it was a GL-10 or something like that. Note: they don't have the rocket in them standard. But I heard that the Military is selling JATO rockets for cheap.
Cannonball Run Two had him in a Starion with Jaws from James Bond.

Was that a Subaru? Crazy, I always thought it was just some car they made up. We are talking about the same movie, yes?

IIRC it wasn't a subaru but a Mitshbishi Precis hatchback. I though it was a subaru till I happened to catch the movie once that and supposedly Jackie has a contract with Mitsubishi to only drive their cars in movies.

In #1 I believe it was a Justy?

I thought it was a Mitsu Starion or something like that. Isn't that the one with "Daisy" Duke form the Dukes of Hazzards.

It was just on here in Dayton last Saturday, and it was most definitely a GL series hatch. It was also funny to see how small Chan's nose was at that point (before the most recent breakings...)

Go Scooby!

Definetly a Subaru (link, link).

Here is an interesting link that shows how the Asain market pushed Cannonball Run by highlighting that Jackie Chan was in it. (wow, $7.99 for the VCD, too?)

Another interesting page that has another interesting fact on it : The producer of Cannonball Run also produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I can't find a picture of the car in Cannonball Run, though... I'll have to watch it sometime and take a few pics or something.

Cool

It was a Subaru Hatchback - back then they didn't give their cars names other than sedan, wagon or hatchback - with three trim levels - DL, the fancier GL, and of course the gussied up GL10s- all basically the same car underneath. Even the BRAT was the same car with the rear roof hacked off. DLs had vinyl seats, mono radios, and rubber mats instead of carpeting, GLs had cloth seats, AM/FM stereos, and carpets, GL10s had digital gauges, moonroof, and turbo engines.
We've come a long way, baby!

I disagree. We've come so far we are now getting higher output out of the same size engine without the turbo than back then with a turbo.

Yes, as I remember (I never owned a GL10 - saw a few at dealerships and read about them) the turbos were not very good cars - unreliable (for a Subaru - still better than anything American made) not all that much more power than un-turbos, and what power there was was hard to get - very narrow power band. Plus the extra weight from the GL10 add-ons pretty much canceled out the power gains. I really wish some of the younger set could experience how truly awful cars of the 70s and 80s were so they could appreciate how good the RS is. We are a fortunate bunch to have discovered this car!

Yea, you're not kidding. The cars I learned to drive on were a '74 Vega, '81 Corolla, and '72 Ford pickup. I remember thinking how rich we must have been getting when my dad bought the used '82 Pontiac 6000. That was like a Cadillac to us. AM/FM digital stereo system, cloth seats, and--check this out--POWER WINDOWS!! Man, we were in the big time then.

Well I'm from the younger set (22) and i learned to drive in my parents' '86 GL10. I can't compare to the normal GL's but to me it was pretty quick. I could spin the tires in first and second gear whenever I wanted (maybe from balding tires?!?) but I could easily cruise 130 km/h. Also as for reliability, that car had about 320 000 km on it and was still running, traded it in for a Forester. The digital dash was cool as it had this little turbo graphic that would spool up when the turbocharger was activated.

You could see a pic of it on my website at www.geocities.com/too_stickee under the 'cars' section.

Yeah it's an F that kinda looks like an eagle too. I got it from my dad's friend who has some sort of "hook-ups" with Subaru Japan and STi. I'm not sure if that grill is an STi item or just a Forester turbo grille. It's similar to the one that is available at www.challengerdeep.com.

Oh and incase y'all are wondering... our family got into Subie's first, then we met my dad's friend. Not like we like these cars only cuz we have hook 'ups. Even before the GL10 my parents had a white DL or something like that too.

Go Scooby!!!
