Question Stalling Problems....???

Hey all,

I'm pretty new to this forum as of late, I use to frequent this board quite a bit back in the day....Back before Shiv started turbo charging his RS. Back when Subie Gal got her new black RS. Back when Trey Cobb was just starting his business in Dallas. (Great guy I met him at the Dallas RS meet one time). My original name was gravity, but that seems to be taken now.
Anyway the reason why I stopped frequenting the board was due to monitary problems, I wanted all those mods that people raved about but couldn't afford them. So I figured I'd stop reading and maybe that would help. It did!! Well on to my problem...
Just recently I've noticed a problem with my 99 RS. It's been stalling quite frequently lately and I can't seem to figure it out. I was thinking it was bad gas so I went to 89 ocatane, it seemed to help but didn't stop the problem. I was also thinking that the fuel filter was dirty so I replaced it. Nope, still happens!!! OH, now what?? The mods I have that could possibly lead to the problem would be a Weapon R intake with an Apexi AFC. I'm not running lean or rich, the plugs look great. The only thing I can think of is a bad O2 sensor but do these go bad and if so how do tell. The car runs great when cold, but of course by the time I get to the freeway the car is warm by then and I notice it's hesitation on on steady throttle (around 3K RPM) like I have bad gas. Then when I reach my exit (here's the real pisser) I depress the clutch and the car stalls. This started happening about a month ago and I thought bad gas, right? Well this seems to happen no matter where I get my gas, and it seems to be getting worse. Last June I took it in for its 36Kmi service and it ran great then, they even changed my MAF sensor due to me having the old one. Anyway I'm lost on ideas right now, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

(sorry so long)

Grav.

How long ago did you install your Weapon R intake? It could've blown your MAF. Or your MAF could just be dirty. Could be that. Also, how are your spark plugs/wires? Could be some sort of misfire problem...Is your CEL on?

I've had the Weapon R on there for about 30K miles, it's ran great, and continued to run great till now. Plug wires were just changed about 1200miles ago, and the MAF sensor was changed from the old to the new one at my 36K service 4K miles ago. Thus I'm stuck on ideas. I can't think of what it could be. Let's say the MAF is dirty, how would one clean it just to be sure? I'm a pretty good wrencher as I enjoy doing all my own work, but I'm seriously thinking about bending over and having the dealer look at it, which I hate to do as I can't stand having someone else work on my car. What else could it be? Bad O2? I'm lost on ideas. It happens about 2-4 times a day on my 15mi comute to work, and only seems to happen when the car is warmed up to normal operating temp.

I was recently having this same sort of problem on my '00 RS. It would hesitate terribly at anything less than full throttle after it had warmed up and would stall when idling.

Changing the fuel filter did not help so I changed the front O2 sensor and it seems to have fixed it.

It could definitely be an O2 sensor...those are pretty notorious for going fast and causing problems. What type of plugs/wires did you use? I've heard Bosche Platinums are no good for our cars...

How's your oil pressure and coolant temp? Thermostat working properly? I'm pretty sure that if your car starts to overheat, then it will go into limp home mode. But you'd probably be getting a CEL...Just brainstorming...
