Default Resonator-Ectomy

Has anyone heard of doing this, doesnt sound like a bad idea, but I am just wondering if there should be any concern about doing it. Let me know what you think.

Do a quick search on this topic...you'll find lots of info on it. Hours of reading.

I have done this, but I replaced my resonator with a GP Moto elbow which essentially leaves less area for the incoming air to travel through before reaching your airbox. With the elbow, I haven't noticed much difference whether it be performance or sound. The WRX gets a good amount of cold air with the "ram-air" induction and since I don't know where an aftermarket CAI brings air in, I would say the stock system is plentiful for a stock or lightly tuned car.

Check out Rallitek for those elbows, or you can make your own.

I've done the snorkusectomy on my 02, and it sounds great. Only downside I've found is that the filter gets dirty in a hurry.

It may be hard to do a search because there are so many names for it. Especially hard for someone new.

I've done it, and it helps you hear the turbo much better, and sounds more fun. It may not actually do anything other than that. It is very easy to do (and undo), so try it out and see what you think. Check out Scoobymods.com for instructions and other helpful mod info.
