It kinda dawned on me a few days ago when i was driving home and i came across a white Impreza. I thought oh, kewl one of those really rare white RS. So i moved in to have a closer look. Then i realised when I saw the badge - Impreza L with the sedan spoiler.
Then recently I found out that our current design is 7 yrs old!!! I really like how it looks right now. But cannot help to know the fact that our current design is way overdue of a facelift. I know the rumour pix look kinda docile --> puppy-ish. I used to love the older Legacy's look and when the new one came out, I thought eeek!!! so Lexus-ish. But now that I am acustom to it, I kinda like it as it has this nice hunkered down aero/touring look. So its the Benz. I use to hate the round headlights. But now when I see the older square headlights, I just thought urrghh....what a dated look car. NEways, not sure if you guys can see my point. But sometimes change is needed. Alot of ppl hate changes. (I know. I work with the ERP industry!) Well 'nuf of my rant. Thoughts?

Bah! I like the way mine looks! Nuthin' like drooling over a Boss Mustang, or a 67' Corvette. One day, our Imprezas will be in that boat, just like the old 240Z.

Yeah, it IS a dated design, but that's part of the charm. I plan to hang onto mine for as long as I can.
I used to dislike the hood scoop because it's non-functional, but now I'm glad I have it. I walked past a couple hundred cars at lunch today (in downtown DC, admittedly an area not known for large numbers of sporty cars) and the only one I saw with a scoop was a Subaru - a 1997 Legacy Outback in this case. In ten years, everybody will be driving lookalike hybrid-engine Honda Insights, Toyota Prius, minitruckvansuvs whatevers. Just keep your Impreza for twenty years and it will become a "classic." Sooner or later, carmakers will be offering "nostalgia" cars reminiscent of "the sporty, squared-off look of the 1990s Impreza." Of course this doesn't mean I won't buy a 2003 Impreza turbo, if I can come up with the cash! Nothing wrong with having 2 Imps.RRinDC 1998 Impreza Outback Sport |

The front end is really only 4 years old but in today's world, even that could pass as being outdated.
And it is kind of funny that the RS sedan spoiler has actually been around for 5 years on our cars( used mostly on the L coupes), it's just that the RS sedan seemed to boost it's popularity There was a more common spoiler that was even a bit smaller that has been around for sometime as well. |

Sube's are like fine wines. Some get better with age and some are just old wine.
It's all about your perspective. |
