Post Pulled over in Northern Michigan

Well, I took the RS on its maiden voyage out of town this weekend and of course I got pulled over

I was in northern Michigan with my girlfriend and had lunch Friday. Pulled out of the restaurant, got up to about 63 mph (55 mph zone) over a hill and as I cleared the hill I saw the officer coming towards me. I tried slowing donw but it was too late.

He walks up to the car and I have all of my stuff ready for him. He asks "You just buy this car Steve?" I tell him I bought it in February and then he asks the big question "Know why I pulled you over?". I looked at him with my big "im on vacation" grin and said "Yup....guilty as charged...I couldnt slow down fast enough".

He went back to his car for a couple of minutes and returned. He started explaining how since it was Memorial day weekend they were cracking down HARD on speeding and no seat belts. Then he went on saying that we both had our seatbelts on and since I slowed down right away and had all of my paperwork handy he was letting me off with a verbal warning. I told him thanks for not ruining my vacation and he laughed and said he drives fast on that particular road as well.

Everyone always tells me to be honest when you are pulled over. Never worked for me in the past but from now on its exactly what im gong to do. That probably doesnt include some joker that may get pulled over and give the old "Why did you pull me over? Maybe because I was speeding, ran that stop sign back there, had 6 beers before leaving the house, passed in a no passing zone and Im driving on a suspended license?". I guess you have to draw the line somewhere

Steve

Ryan,

At the time I was pulled over I was about 10 miles east of Onaway, MI. Its on the east side of the state....opposite of wheere you were

I was visiting my parents summer home in Millersburg. Bet no one has heard of that place.

Steve
