Thumbs down OT: Morrey Mazda Northshore

Just went to test drive a new Mazda3 at the NS Automall. Car drove great, looks great and good price. Spoke to the salesguy, all's cool then they offer me 10g's for my car on trade in. I said it was way low, so he brought his manager over. He tells me that on the buy&sell he saw a Legacy Outback for 13g's...for a 2001. I told him he had to be joking, he says no, and tears up the paper in front of me and tells me when I'm serious about buying a car to come back. I tell him I would never buy a car from someone who lies to me. I would never give my business to Morrey Mazda in Northshore automall and I will tell all my friends not to give them business either. Hideous customer service.

I always think even if the sales guy is genuinely nice, is he really like that or just playin' it out to get on your good side to get the sale... and then there are those that are just plain dinks.

You still look like a young guy Jamie... so do I. I was standing around DD in the showroom last onth and never was approached. I had somone paged to help me, but they never came or looked passed me and left.

I was on the phone with somone with DD later asking some questions and the guy asks me where I work so he could come get my deposit, even without asking if I would be interested in doing that... pushy. I'm not going back there.

Guess I'll never go there to test drive the mazda 3...or maybe only for the test drive!! How was the drive, does it really handle that well...can't wait for the mazdaspeed version!

thumbs down to dealers who think they can rip customers off just because they have a popular car!

hey, if u want a good price on your legacy, don't go to mazda dealerships in general. My family traded in an old old LS400 before, most mazda dealership only offer $3000-$5000. But Honda offered $10,000. It's such a big difference. Then we got the new honda civic as a delivery car.

edited we just need that car for delivery.

No way, I will never purchase a car from them and I will recommend anyone I talk to to never give them their business. Anyone who knows me knows I am an easy going guy. I even told the salesman I'm not looking to bash your price down as long as you are fair and honest with me.

I'm sticking with my car, I like it but I really dug that new 3. I will get a new car someday but for now I am happy with my legacy.

they dont pay overtime and made me work it like everyday!!! sucked ass man dont buy cars from them.

edit: the techs and the parts dudes were totally cool there. oh and the service advisors too.

but bad business ethics

I'm kinda inbetween the Mazda 3 and the Impreza. but anyways...
here's a note for anyone going to the dealership for a Mazda 3.

side note: When I went to my local Mazda dealership, I looked at the show room car all over. One thing I noticed was that there were swirls on the paint!! Just something to look out for if ya end up looking for a Mazda, tora.

on topic, a salesperson that does that is STUPID!!! If it is a scare tactic, it's a stupid one. That just ain't the way you keep customers. By the sounds of it, it even seems that he didn't give you much of a chance to negotiate further?

if a salesperson did that to me, I might get mean and ask for another salesperson to deal with. Or just go to another dealer.

Sounds like an assclown of a manager.
I would have walked out and said, "Good thing there's 3 other Madza dealerships within a 30 minute drive."
I guess with such a limited production, exclusive car like a Mazda 3 he figures he can treat customers like crap and they have to take it

You want me to go introduce that guy to my sack of door knobs? What I have found is that most of the people whom I introduce to the sack of door knobs to are dumber than the sack, so I have to introduce them a couple of times.

Cringing with a blood soaked whimper or sometimes uncontrolled sobbing in the fetal position are the usual signs that there has been a life long connection with the sack of door knobs has been made.

You let me know.

I would really suggest you to take some time and write to Mazda of Canada. Tell them what have happened at which particular dealership, and better yet, give them the salesmans name.

Last time, I was at one of the BMW dealership and one of the stupid used car salesman was very very cocky. I was so mad at then I almost wanted to yell at that guy. But better yet, I went home and sent an email to BMW Canada. Couple of days later, I got an email from Customer Relation Manager over at Toronto. And a call from the Sales Manager from that dealership. They took the complaint seriously. I think nowdays, all head office value very highly of how the dealership represents them.

That's pretty pathetic. I remember a few years ago in order to get any pricing on a car (at that time a Celica), you had to fill out the purchase agreement and sign on the line saying "I will buy the car if I am given an acceptable price". I walked. I also was in negotiation to buy an '02 Maxima, and they refused to budge on the price. Worse still, I overheard the sales manager chewing out my female salesperson over the price I was offering (still several thousand dollars over their cost!) until she almost cried (I doubt that was an act). I walked again, and eventually I ended up with a painless 1/2 hour negotiation at Docksteader's for the WRX.

I think it's utter stupidity to act this way in the day and age of the Internet. Think of how many people are going to read this and tell their friends, or to link to this thread from other forums (speaking of this...anybody posted this on revscene and other local boards? I'm curious what sort of publicity this can get going, and Jamie can feel a lot better ).

My buddy had a similar experience with the richmond acura dealership... he was interested in the rsx when it first came out so I went with him to go and take a look at it... we saw the car and he asked for a test drive... the salesperson WOULD NOT let him test drive the car until he put a down payment on one... we thought he was joking, but sure enough he was serious, I told him that was absurd and he essentially said "tough".

So we walked and went to Burrard Acura and had an awesome experience with a salesperson there, he got his test drive (and they guy even asked if I wanted to test drive it as well.. and of course I said yes)..

in the end he didn't end up getting the car due to financial reasons, but the experiences we had at the two acura dealerships were night and day... now that I think of it, he should have definatly written a letter in regards to the treatment we received.

that's the same reason I went to 4 dealerships before I bought my Prelude. At least you have the balls to state your unhappiness and go elsewhere.

No loss though.
The Mazda 3 sucks.

Go to Wolfe Mazda here in Burnaby. We test drove a Mazda3 there and they treated us pretty well. They also got a consumer award recently from some local paper.

to those who have driven the m3... what is it like?

Now that the impulse buy is out of my system and I am looking into it more I will wait. I really don't want a FWD car and am actually pretty happy with my Legacy. Maybe it was the impulse buy gods kicking my ass.
