I'm driving home about midnight, nobody on the road. In 3rd gear driving through town. Have about 200 miles on it. I look to the left where a cop car catches my eye at the local gas station.
I see the police officer getting in his car with his hands full of food. He looks at me and I think "why not". So I down-shift to second and plant my foot. "Lets hear that Stromung in action" I think to myself. 4K shift to third. Man, I like this pickup. Flying now, 4K again time to shift to forth. Hit forth and let the clutch out. WAAAHHHHHHHH 6K on the tach, Eyes bulge out, Left foot hits the floor. I look at my hand and scream at it, "this isn't forth you idiot!!". Nedless to say I drove 50 all the way home. Saying sorry all the way. 1000 miles can't come soon enough. I've been shifting between 3500 and 4000 all the time. It seems normal for the RS. Is this beating it?

I change gears around 5krpms most of the time. Its nice to hear ur car at those rpms I have atleast one time a day (no kidding) that I redline the car..I guess thats not to good and probably makes my "hell no" statment void but I dont think shifting at 3-4k rpms is bad...thats the norm.have fun ![]() Keith 34,400 miles and still counting ![]() 99rs |

I once heard (or dreamt) that every once in awhile (every day) you gotta hit the cutter. That cleans carbon deposits (boredom and lack of smiles). I believe its true. Why else would you pay that much money for something you can't use. Itd be like a hummer that has never seen dirt. Or your girlfriend thats never been... well you know...

If I read your post then you are still breaking in the motor. IMHO keep off the rev limiter until it's broken in
Then go for it ![]() Richard |

never mind humble opinions if you dont run in a motor your a bit thick (no offence) but at least your car will last till 1000miles if you do. have your fun but think of the price of replacing rings and pistons e.t.c alot sooner than you'd previously expected
(be patient little one and you will be rewarded)[This message has been edited by paul squire (edited May 30, 2000).] |
